Well folks...
In sunny Sierra Vista, Az. we had our annual Cars in the Park Car show today. Annual event that is the largest show for us locally.
The show is usually very well attended with around 300-400 cars each year.
We had a small showing from the Arizona SVTOA (myself and a buddy with his 2003 Cobra)
I entered the Marauder in the "Late Model Modified" (80's and newer) class. A tough class as most classes cover 10 years. 50-59, 60 - 69, etc. So the Late Model classes are 26 years wide.
My buddy went in the "Late Model Original".
Well SVTOA clean sweeps ! The 03 Cobra grabs a first in Original while my Marauder grabs the first place hardware in the modified!:banana2:
I am sure the Trilogy kit put us over the top. My son also provided a lot of help on the install and the detailing !
In any event... first show... first place... not too shabby! Even managed to pull this off WITHOUT my UHI coming from Carmotorsports!

Excellent! Looks like all the wrenching paid off!
Bye the way, what wheels/tires do you have on your car?

They are ROH Drift R wheels... +49mm 18x8 in front +49mm 18x9.5 (18x8 widened by James at Weldcraft Wheels in Mich)
I am running the Nitto 555 255/45 ZR18 in front - Nitto 295/45 ZR18 in back.

Those are nice rims you got there! If I had a black MM, I'd be real interested in a chrome set!! My ole 98 Cobra was black with chrome wheels like those.
Your car looks great!

Klmore... Defyant,
Thanks guys.... appreciate the props....
Funny thing about the wheels.... I had a guy come up ( I was sitting with friends behind the cars) and asked who owned the car. I told him I did and he goes..."Nice car... the rims suck tho... all wrong for this car... " He then proceded to tell me how I needed some sort of solid steel wheels that were black etc. When I mentioned that they weren't the original rims that Mercury had better taste... he said he knew what the stock ones looked like they sucked as well.
I tried hard not to laugh....
So apparently some folks dig the ROHs and some REALLY don't.

Way to go. Glad you got your Trilogy on your car. I remember talking to you about it. I told Jerry Barnes when you were here that you would be his next customer.

Wow! The first show you entered after you installed the Trilogy S/Cer, and you walk away with first prize. I'm sure that it had a lot to do with yours and your son's additional touches to the car also. Nice work, and congratulations!! :2thumbs:

Seems to run well... but I don't have any other MM to compare against.
I am not jumping it too hard until we get the BAP situation fixed. But it is a kick to drive now!
Once I get everything adjusted, exhaust installed, I will dyno it and see where I am. Then I will decide if what I have is enough or not.

This car show always has "guest judges". So visual presentation and uniqueness often scores very highly. The class I was in was huge... and there was a VERY nice 87 Mustang in the class. I mean, the type you put a mirror under the car so they can see all the "touches". He came in third! :dunno:
The day just worked for us. At judging time we had partly sunny skies so the sun wasn't at such an angle that it showed any swirl marks etc. in the paint... the car was sitting right next to the Cobra so there was another engine to compare it to... and of course... the Marauder is just a damn fine looking car to begin with. (I also think folks liked the blue worms :P .. Tks Barry for the idea)
Also, this show has just been good to me in general. First year I showed my 03 Cobra I got a first. Second year I placed 2nd with the Cobra...and 03 Cobra's (SVTOA) took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. That same year I got a 2nd place with my 67 Fairlane in the under construction class. Last year we (SVTOA) were shut out. Then this year the MM comes through and SVTOA took top slots in the two relevant classes. So, new and different I think brings in the hardware. Also, my cars aren't "over exposed" in this town. That being, I only do two shows a year, so they aren't seen in shows that often. I also take my daily drivers to one of the shows. (87 Starion, 88 Tbird Turbocoupe) Except at the Starion/Conquest National Meet last month... my Starion never places. Got a first at the Nats for best all around.
If I can get my Fairlane finished this year (doubtful) I am hoping it does real well next year. It will be fresh... and different.... and have the wow factors of Dual Quads etc. I'll also do the MM again so it can be sitting next to the Fairlane... see if folks see the family resemblence! :cool4:

Don't let the dyno make decisions for you. One timeslip is worth a dozen dyno sheets. Take it to the track and let that be the deciding factor. I often see cars with higher RWHP numbers losing to cars with [just a little] lower RWHP numbers. Just a thought on my part, bro. ;)

Yeah, I think it has something to do with the fact that there are Mustangs all over the place everywhere you turn, but not so with Marauders. I also think that Marauders are nicer looking cars than Mustangs are anyway (which is precisely why I drive one instead of a Mustang).

"Hmmm, Strong the Darkside is!"
Whether it's the call of the 1/4 Mile or that of the Dyno... it is real easy to get too far down the trail!
Your point is well taken... I just need to approach things slowly. I do NOT want to get enticed by the "siren's call" and end up breaking the motor!

We must share some of the same traits... since I traded a Mustang for the MM !

We must share some of the same traits... since I traded a Mustang for the MM ! I can understand why you did, because the only Mustangs that catch my eye, are the 67's, 68's, and the 05's. And IMO the 05's need some type of custom work to be really nice looking. But I've never liked the 85-04 Mustang platform at all. There's nothing about those body styles that appeal to me at all. :puke: (boy, I'm using the puke symbols a lot today ).

Mike,
Runs pretty well. I still have to get my tune adjusted for the car. Sending my XCAL to Lidio today (if the postal service is working).
Had what appears to be a problem with the Boost-a-Pump (BAP) and the Trilogy folks have one coming my way.
I haven't really hammered the car because of the BAP situation so I don't know how well it WILL do... but what I have seen is quite enjoyable!
:)
