Just Curious, I Shut Down My Marauder and Within Seconds, The Rear AirBags Drop and the Car Sits Flat. How Long Should it take for the AirBags to Deflate?? Is This Normal or Is the Dealer going to Expect a Visit from me??

I havent heard any Air Leaks, and the car has normal ride height while Driving, But the Car Drops Quick

Thanks for any Info

My bags stay pumped, I've never come out to my car and seen it laying flat the next morning or even a week later of not being touched.

You mean the bags deflate completely? This should never happen. It may drop an inch or so if you had something in the trunk and took it out, like a toolbox or something. Otherwise it shouldn't drop at all. Do you notice if the pump is going while you drive. I know it's hard to hear but try it parked with the engine running. If you haven't made and changes in weight of the rear end, it should pump maybe once and never again. You might have a leak somewhere.

Since day 1 with my 300A Marauder, once I get in and start the car, I hear the pump come on and the rear raises up slightly. When I shut the car off and get out, once I close the door I can hear the system release air and the car goes down about an inch. My car is a garage queen and doesnt go out all winter, and never sags in the back.

It is posible to adjust the linkage at the rearend for the ride height you want.
I would recommend before adjusting you assure clearance with the car on jackstands prior to going underneath!

Best,

Paul :D

Mine never goes down either, although I hear the air pump when first starting.

I was told the Rear air bags can take up to ten minutes to Squat.
I usually notice the air bag compressor running after the car is started.
I have not turned the air bag switch in the trunk to off to see how much it drops.

I notice a quick sound of air releasing from the front of the car where the pump is when I shut the driver's side door, but the bags stay inflated for a while.

The air suspension should never completely deflate.... :(
the pump should keep (the suspension) up all the time (running or not)
Even when the car is not running you should hear
the pump working in the (garage) from time to time or for
sure on start up.
This is my past experience (having 3 cars with air suspension)

My 2k4 MM works exactly the same way.
I've verified this with my dealer and they tell me that this is normal.

The only thing I haven't been able to do, is to activate the system
by adding extra weight to the Marauder without turning on the ignition.
I've added 500lbs to the Marauder's trunk and it doesn't adjust anything
until the ignition is turned on.

Mine never goes down either, although I hear the air pump when first starting.Same here. I notice the pump when I get in the car in the morning - but not every morning. Seems to be more prevalent when the weather is cooler at night. Have never seen the rear go down far enough for me to take notice.

Every Morning I start the Car I can hear the Pump and Feel the Car Lift, But When I shut the Car down Yesterday I Watched the rear Drop to the point that I couldnt Fit 2 fingers between the tire and wheelwell, and I didnt Hear any Air Escaping!! But Yet Today, the Car Stayed At its normal ride height When I shut it Down!
I have Noticed a Change in the Cars Handling Lately too, Maybe under Pressure around a Corner the Bar Will Let Air Escape? Ill do a Full Examination Soon, but for Now Its Driving me Nuts! :mad2:

Well, I have had my '04 for just over a month now. Since the day I drove it off the lot, it has acted the same way (and I got the car with 5670 miles on it).

Anway, everytime I get in and start the car the air pump will run for a little bit and the back end will raise up. If I add more weight after that: i.e. add gas, load up the trunk, etc, it will run a little while again and bring it back to the normal ride height. Every time I turn the car off, get out and close the driver's door, I hear a releasing of air noise from the front end of the car. I have never hear the compressor run while driving or after that initial running when the car is started (unless weight is added).

And it never seems to drop all the way like the rear end is sagging. It does not ever drop the wheel well lip below the top edge of the tire. And the car handles and rides great at all times.

once the car is shut off and the driver door is open then shut it is normal for the rear vent solenoids to open and drop the car an inch or so....then once the key is turned back on the compressor will come on and restore ride height...this is to aid in getting in and out of the vehicle...when ever i park mine i hear the vents open and i can see it drop a bit...

what happens when my air bags won't deflate?? i need help they pumped up and my car sits a couple inches higher than usual and will not go down, the suspension is stiff and it rides like a lowered civic all bouncey how do you release the pressure?? is it some sensor or valve?

True up to the point that it's to aid in getting in and out of the car. The system "vents" (Fords terminology) to relieve excess pressure on the rear air springs. It will vent usually less than a minute from when the last door is closed.

Sounds like you jacked (or raised on a chasis lift) the car up without turning your air suspention switch off.:(

My 03' always stayed pumped up in the rear. This 04' will drop about an inch once I turn it off.
