What is the difference between a 300A and a 300B?

Only '03s have a 300B version...all '04s are 300A...

The primary differences between 300As and 300Bs are what the 'Bs DON'T have:

Full-size spare
Automatic parking brake release
Electric fuel door release
Stand-alone clock
Metal rear speaker grilles

What 300Bs DO have that 300As don't:

Traction control
Heated seat option

'04 300As are just like '03 300Bs...

During the change-over from A to B, some Bs got some of the 300A options, so you may find a 300B with a full-size spare (for example)...

300A has a nice dark blue/ black upper windshield tint
300B has a crappie dot-matrix strip that does nothing!

Now wait a minute. I have a what I believe to be a 2003 Mercury Marauder. But i seem to have a hybrid beast of both worlds. While I have the automatic parking brake release in drive, I don't have traction control (who the heck needs it). I have the electric gas door and a full size spare. So is it the B's don't have these and if the B's were 03's would this mean I have an 04 and the dealership didn't know what they had?

You have a 2003A!

The 2003"s came in two (2) models A & B More B's were made than A's.
a 2003B is equal to a 2004A model because they both lack
all the goodies. Can you dig it?

You can get after market heated seats. The only difference would be the location of the switch.

Big House, from your description you have a 2003 300a. It was the 2003 300b cars that were decontented, although during the change-over some 300b cars were fitted with some of the 300a content, to varying degrees. All 2004 cars are called 300a, but they have the same content (or, more correctly, lack of content) as the 2003 300b.
