View Full Version : See you all soon!
Howdy All!
I am getting on a C-5 today for A...stan and Pa...stan.
You might see me on TV, but I won't be seeing any of you all until sometime in '07... I am making history with an amazing deployment of equipment in record time.
We will help out as much as we can and show the flag as we work back into our original mission...
I'll stay in touch and send some Marauder-related pictures as time permits.
See you all soon,
Kevin

You know that you are now a member of our family and we will be here for you should you need us. We're very proud of you and all our men and women who are in harm's way. Our prayers are with you all. Yup, it was pretty cool... I rode in the cargo area sitting right next to the nose of my helicopter. You should have seen the way that bigass thing lurched and pulled against the tiedown chains when the pilot released the brakes!!
Kinda like watching one of those 11-second Marauders launch, without the smoke and cheers...
Gotta go,
Kevin

Be Safe and good luck.
Kevin Ivey here. I have been here for a little over one month now and the whole experience is pretty overwhelming. The work we are doing here is tremendously helping these folks. We fly into villages deep in the mountains and bring desperately needed shelter and food.
The Pakistani people are very friendly and thankful. I speak with the Pakistani military folks almost daily about how they percieve the world and how God is an influence on everything they do. Despite the difference in our religious beliefs, they understand and respect our faith and are not at all confrontational. There are Christian Pakistanis here who are a minority and are pretty much left alone (except my the few militant Islamists). Myself and a few fellow crewmembers were almost hugged to death by a man who would only say "Christain!- you are a great man!"
We are all living in a large airplane hangar in tents. Heaters are being installed as they arrive, but ours only puts out cold air... Nobody is complaining because the food is almost good and there is plenty of it.
Here is a short article explaining our mission here in Pakistan:

yesterday, there was a picture of my aircraft picking up big loads of
food on one of these articles...

Not really; but there are clues. Too big for an OH-58 or UH-1. Too wide for an AH-1 or 64. Not organized like a UH-60. Of course, there is another Chinook in the distance just off & beyond his left eye. And those 4 pips on his shoulder ... ;)

Howdy all,
I haven't written in this thread for a while, been busy...
Attached are pics of the reunion Maury and I had in Dallas while I was enroute back to Afghanistan. We had a short visit and forgot it was Independence Day!
My leave was short and eventful. I got to drive my car and experience a $48.00 fill-up. I didn't work on my car at all, buy I drove just enough to remember why I love my Marauder. The PHP intake spacer and Granatelli ignition connectors sti sit in their boxes in my closet...
I didn't miss much while I was gone except for a sadly fatal Apache crash and my helicopter from Texas getting a few bullet holes in it. The helicopter is almost fixed, but my compadre Tim is gone and his family needs all the prayers they can get.
I'll write again with (hopefully) some good news.
The outpouring of love and appreciation while in Texas and especially Dallas was amazing! Everyone shook my hand, got out of my way, gave me a seat and bought my food... The folks at american Airlines and the USO put on a Barbeque feast and showed a lot of love for us all... A lot of the younger soldiers were brought to tears by all the sincere hugs and kindness from the grandmothers and retirees who came to DFW to see us off. I didn't expect all of it to that degree.
Gotta go, catching up on sleep after a rocket attack...
SEE YOU SOON, :)
Kevin
Kevin,
You and your cohort's heroic deeds will not go un-noticed! We all respect and support you all. Here's to a safe return and godspeed on your tour's completion!
God Bless you all,

Howdy All,
Here are some pictures of my luxurious accomodations, now that I have moved again....
We are counting the days and I am just beginning to realize that I will only be back about two weeks before MV4!
I just bought another supercharger raffle ticket, so I am waiting on the results before I figure out how to pay for my Trilogy kit... I have sooooo much catching up to do!
I will chronicle my return to the world as it happens... I will initially return To Fort Sill, OK, so I will almost be back in the world (ha ha).
Like I said a year ago, see you all soon!

After a few days of looking around and a few PM's here on the forum, I managed to finally find another MM.net member. Who would believe that a zillion miles from civilization in a combat zone would be a place for meeting up with your Marauder buddies....
Here is a picture with myself and some retired Army guy in a crummy little camp on the Pakistan border in Afghanistan. Perhaps you recognize brother Bob from Marauderville or from all the good times we have had celebrating our unique cars... We are leaning on Bob's current ride.
Bob Mathis and I met up today out in front of my tent. Notice the scenery in the background... Poopers and dirt. That is where we live and work while supporting the global war on terror. It was good to chat with a fellow car nut and supercharged Marauder fan.
I'll be leaving here in a few days and leaving Afghanistan for good in about a month. I'll see Bob and everyone else in Orlando right after that! Woo Hoo!
Again, see you all soon!:D

God Bless you Kevin. Stay well.
Before I can leave this place and come home, I have to go BACK to Pakistan!
We have been "invited" to attend some kind of one-year anniversary observance of the earthquake! So, instead of getting ready to move three more times in order to get home, I will have to move two additional times....
This had better be worth it! I am tired and want to go home....
It will be cool to see the Pak folks again and to enjoy their hospitality. We made a huge difference and demolished all the records for delivering aid.
I'll send pictures as usual....
Gotta go. Travel time again...
See you all soon!:)

Howdy from Afghanistan (for two more days!)
I flew my last mission today... It was kinda cool that I got to fly my own helicopter. Here are some pics showing the flight from Spain to Bagram, Afghanistan last year and me standing next to the same helicopter a year later.
The flags on the side are from the second trip to Pakistan from which we just returned...
I dropped the Chinook off at a forward base for our replacements to fly as they assume our mission starting tomorrow or the next day. I was forced to fly home in a UH-60 Blackhawk, but I managed to survive the flight and return to my home base. :help:
I'll turn in my weapon and ammo tomorrow and get on the plane home at a later date. It has seemed like a long haul, but the time has been well spent and we are all safe and ready to come home.
In addition to setting all-time records for time flown, cargo hauled and lifted and mission completion percentile, we have all survived the entire tour and simply await the flight home. :bows:
After some silly Army stuff, I will be back with my family in a few days and on my way to MV4 right after that.
....wait for it:
See you all soon!
