Well guys its about that time to grab the gloves and put up the shutters thanks to that B!@# name Wilma. Just when we thought the season was over guess again. Just our luck this storm is the strongest one ever recorded....Max winds 175 mph and gusts of over 213 mhp. Most of us in the South Fla. are have been kinda lucky so far but I have a bad feeling about this one.....They should change the name of the state to the Hurricane State....Wherever the storm hits I hope everyone will be prepared and safe.......At least I can have another Hurricane Party:beer:

Yeah, I'm flying back into Miami tomorrow. If at that time it looks like a definite Miami/broward hit and it's expected to still have some serious strength, I'll be driving my car northward. Anyone want to caravan? lol

I just finished the other day opening my upper shutters. It seams everytime we turn around another one is coming. I guess thats just part of living down here. This year has been a little too much.

I thought Hurricane season officially went through November. I used to live in NC and we had "issues" every season with Hurricanes. Not as much Florida (or now New Orleans) but still they caused a lot of disruption. It times like this I am thankful that I don't have to live in those regions anymore. Also looking at the Marauder Map that was put up last night.... there are so many MM owners in Florida, you guys would have a traffic jam all your own just trying to evacuate!

You have that right. Our insurance company has notified us that our policy won't be renewed. We have never had a claim. (knock on wood) We have had several quotes from others and the lowest will triple our cost. I am thinking seriously of self insurance..but that only works if you have a claim about every 20 years. Of course we have not had a claim in 40 years so I quess we should have self insured from the start! What ya gonna do? We thought we were going to like Florida but after last year..running scared 5 times and this year....we are not so sure! We will be in the convoy with the Marauder if necessary.Dennis

Geeeeze....another big windstorm headed into the gulf and this one appears to be a real :censor: monster. The projected strike probabillity cone into Friday and the weekend is still pretty wide at present......so if any of you South FL guys are thinkin of leaving (Rick), better watch it close and depart kinda early lest the thing shifts a bit more northward and you end up driving right into it's path.... the point of landfall for these badboys has certainly proven to be somewhat unpredictible the last couple of seasons. And as always, being able to find fuel along the way is gonna be a crap shoot. Fortunately, my house in FL is still shuttered and me and the MM are still up in the midwest. Good luck to everyone and pray that it weakens some prior to arriving in FL.

Hang in there.
The west coast for the most part has avoided extreme hurricanes for over 30 years now. Let's keep the record going and hope for a sizzle out in the last moments of this storms POS life.

This is getting old already. We put the shutters up yesterday and took everything indoors. I'll park the marauder close to the house between a truck and a grand marquis, hopefully it will be OK. This sucks. Not to mention I seem to have the flu.
Best of luck to all of us! Stay safe!

Hope everyone down there in South Florida is doing OK after the storm. I'm sure most are probably without power right now.

Just a qwick update, 90% of my county is out of power, including my place. No real structural damage to my place, parents lost their screened encloser. I'm working 12 hour shifts untill things get close to normal. The only good thing is that the weather is really nice out. Which help with the power out. Hopefuly everyone has fared well.

I'm out of power as well. I'm in Tampa as of now until Sunday. Cobra25 is fine too. I saw him in person after the hurricane and he's doing okay, but our whole block is out of power and will be for a few weeks. So we had to run the generators. Well I don't anymore more, I'm in Tampa on vacation. We needed to get away for a few days but glad to hear you guys seem to be making it through okay. Would like to hear back from a few more of you guys.

My electric came on at 9PM. My condo building fared better than the rest of the complex. Some of these buildings will not inhabitable for a while. I'll try to get pics and post them.
I did OK. No power, probably be a few weeks. At least I have water this time. http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/thumb.gif
The eye passed right over us. We watched the first half from my neighbors garage facing north with coffee and blt's. The wind was from the southeat at 90 + The eye was perfect, we had about 45 minutes of calm and about 20 minutes of sun. I knew the second half would be from the North west and stronger, so I relocated the MM. Good thing too, because a pine tree ended up where I had it.
So I had time to break out the vodka for bloody mary's. We watched the second half from his covered porch which faces east. You could hear it coming like a freight train. We just looked at each other and said "oh crap" http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif The winds were 100-120. Pretty cool. Stuff was flying by then! The ***** is that there are only two gas stations within 10 miles that have power and gas.http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/plthumbsdown.gif The lines were 100 yards long when I went by at 6 this morning.
I might get pulled away for storm duty, but that could be fun.
Edit: I haven't heard how Mark made out in the Farms.

I got my power back yesterday, Thank God
I have sworn to invest in a standby generator, Katrina had me out 7 days, this time 11 days :(
I'll will invest better next time, too many hassles this time around
Between the gas shortages, and long lines at the supermarkets
Something has to give. We were somewhat prepared. But supplies only last so long.
Glad to see everyone so far, fared well. I hope those that we didn't hear from yet, are fine and safe. To the LEO's and Utility workers' that are on here, that are working these long hours(Like myself:sunup til sundown, everyday), I say Godspeed ;) :bandit:
