Tire rack just informed me they are sold out on the 16" alloys they had in their winter package. anyone know where i could get a decent looking inexpensive set of rims for the winter. also are there adavantages to using 17"s over 16"

Steel wheels not alloy but work very well as long as you still have stock brakes. This is what I will be using this winter.

I got my OEM '03+ CVPI steel wheels from Ray I think for $56/each plus shipping. They are brand new wheels and will make me laugh everytime I see them mounted on the car this winter. And the Pirelli's are mounted up and ready to go.

Get ahold of Ray. He is the man for parts!!!!

...aside from the limited choices of overpriced foreign snow tires...no. ;)

16" Marquis steelies circa 1998 work fine. Marginal offset from the wheel well, not enough to be concerned with for $45 brand new steelies.

Is there enough offset for me to get a horn that plays music?

I have been looking around at the proper combination of F/R tires for my MM and found Firestone Winterforce to have a good selection of 16" tires.

I have a question though...

The difference between F & R is 4.56 % (27.2/28.5") I want to go to 215/70-16 F & 225/75-15 R (28.0/29.4") = 4.76% differnce? Pretty darn close in my opinion.

I want the extra height, but need to know two things:

1) Will the taller tires fit in the MM wheel wells (~7/8" taller).?

2) Does my SCT tuner accomodate such changes. Don't know how many choices I have in that little box.?

I suspect the tires will fit due to the fact they are narrower, although taller. If anyboody has any experience with this, please share. I can get 16 X 6.5 Steel Wheels from a local dealer for $66 @.

Thanks,

Here's your answer to the 17's:

I'm just gonna go with 16's and the Blizzak WS-50's.

SKiordie53, the problem arises with the tire height. You have a 27" tall tire in front and a 28" tall tire in back. If you want to maintain the factory rake, you have to use tires that are those heights. If you have an '04 you have traction control to deal with. Do a search under "SNOW TIRES" here on the site and you'll find all the info in the world regarding snow tires and the Marauder.

STLRFAN I understand the differences in height, and have been trying to understand for months what sizes i can use. is there a ratio guide i can use on this site or another to try and find a suitable size if no one else alreayd has sizes they use currently.

I think I may have narrowed it down to using a 215/55/17 in the front and a 245/45/17 in the rear. can anyone verify if this will work ok with an 04 on 17" town car wheels without messing up traction control or abs
