View Full Version : Resolutions / Goals for your MM for 2006? Mods & Racing goals?
OK, gang, I am sure that there are a lot of us who still have a long mod list or who haven't been to the track yet. This is the place to let us know what you are thinking, planning and hoping to do in 2006.
I'll start off with my list in the next post.
Have fun.
Best,
Dan
Line lock.
Bottom end rebuild for strength.
Power adder.
Widened wheels/Nittos.
Stereo upgrade.
Badgeless front grill.
Debadged rear deck lid.
I hope to get to the drag strip in 06. I have never been and I know it would be fun.
Best,
Dan

Well, I rubber lipped some nonsense about twelves, earlier this year, (Skipping) thirteens.
So unless something drastic happens, I'm still shooting(my mouth off) for 12's.
And of course every thing on Dan's list!:bs:

Well, my first goal is to make it safely through the winter driving the Marauder since it is my daily driver.
As long as that happens, I want to do the following for next year:
1) New floormats to put in storage
2) Full exhaust with Kook's headers and custom setup from Lidio's exhaust people
3) Suspension - control arms, Watts link, and sway bars
4) Lots more Zaino and find a new tire dressing that looks good but does not fling as much
5) Dress up items: GT or Innovative Interceptor coil covers, door sill plates, hood and trunk lid liners
Other than that just plan on keeping up on maintenance and saving for the Trilogy setup.

I'm planning for forced induction in spring, with that I'll need widened wheels. That'll be quite a bit, I'm not sure what else I'd do mod-wise until the Fall of '06, past that I'd probably go for full exhaust and/or a brake upgrade.
One step at a time, but all following a master plan...
As for track times, by the end of '06 I'd like to be in the low 13's atleast...but, we shall see. With a blower and some drag radials it shouldn't be all that tough...I hope. :)

First, 11.90 or better in the 1/4
Then, a built bottom end and near 600 RWHP later in the year.
Then 11.50 !?
And some road racing at Barber or Road Atlanta.

I don't really count bling stuff as a mod because if it don't help the car stop, turn or go faster, it ain't really a mod. It's makeup. Cosmetics. Which I'm all for as long as it doesn't get in the way of real mods.
Manly, man stuff, you know.
Real mods...
First, me and wchain are trying to get interest up for Quickor to have enough orders to bend us up some front and rear sway bars. They're a good spring steel bar that remembers it's shape. One each of those. Post on this thread (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=22090) in the garage if you want one or two.
Next, something like what this car (http://www.ststurbo.com/2005_mustang_gt) has.
Then a driveshaft loop and possibly the two piece driveshaft listed on this page (http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/marauder.shtml).
Then maybe something from this page (http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/gt-cobra-shortblocks.shtml). I like that 322 cubic incher! Can I get one in an aluminum block though?
Hope I can get all that done in 2006.

Mercury Marauder Two Piece Steel Driveshaft
Unconditional 5 year warranty on our two piece steel driveshaft assembly. The two piece design is used by Mercedes and BMW to transmit power without vibration. Manufactured to the highest specifications and balanced at 6000RPM. This driveshaft is guaranteed to run continuously at 170mph.
It's only guaranteed to 170 mph ?.
That's too bad ... I'm gonna have to pass.
My commute usually averages @ 178 when the weather is clear.

The plan is a follows:
Hit the 13's at the track... I'm not sure quite how to get there, but I can't see it being too tough to shave 3-tenths, without breaking the bank
Maybe a minor suspension upgrade
Stereo upgrade - Have speakers done, have amp collecting dust, want a DVD/Nav/mp3 deck (thinking about the Eclipse 5435)

Get the suspension upgraded
Get the transmission beefed up
Go to the sheriff's office and take their performance driving course (8 hours, with a lot of time beating up their crown vics)
Take it through a road course

Do they offer this course to the public? Please PM me with details. I would love to know more about it.

PS: I plan on making the note on my Marauder disappear this coming November. WOOO HOOOO!

Why not a carbon fiber driveshaft like Joe Walsh and I have? It's half the price of the two piece. he's had his for a year longer than I. I have been autocrossing mine since last year. It would let you save up for all those other mods you have planned too. ;)

My goal for 2006 since I have now joined the MM "13s N/A Timeslip Club" (w/o gas tune) since SSHS5 is to move from 4th to 3rd place or 13.8xs. But, that may depend on the update of the Timeslip board and any new members who may post new numbers. I have several modest items in the works to reach 13.8xs.
