Parts of my wheels are dull because I used a glass cleaner on them. I did this before I new they were clear coated. Is there something I can do now to make them shine again? GJTcodered

You could try a pain polish/cleaner wax like Zymol...I'm not sure how weak the clearcoat is but amonia glass cleaner on paint isn't good but might only cloud the clear rather than strip it.

Give polish/cleaner wax a shot, if not, try some clearcoat safe glazing polish followed by wax.

I'm not entirely sure what Windex will do to paint or clearcoat though, I've gotten a bit on my paint before without any issues, so hopefully it's not too bad.

If the cleaner wax does not work, your gonna have to bring your car to

a good Detail shop to have them buffed. NEVER EVER use harsh soaps/wheel

cleaners on your wheels. If you would'nt use the product on your car paint

then do not use it on your wheels. There both clear coated people!!!!!

I would start out with a Paint Cleaner/swirl mark remover, and then step to a polish. This should help with the hazing. PM me if you are still having problems.

I just purchased the Mother's powerball Mini and was planning to use it on the wheels with some very light swirlmark remover/polish and then some Croftgate Tireshine or a wax to top it off with.

I noticed a couple of threads that stated to stay away from using the balls/cones on wheels. Is this the case even with mild polish/waxes?

The balls / cones should be OK. It's the product that you use on them that causes problems.

ONLY use what you'd use on the paint on the car.

If you'd feel comfortable using the powerball on the hood or door panels, then use it on the wheels.

If not, then prolly a good idea to pass on the powerball.

I normally use mothers cleaner wax, thought this might be a good pre-cleaner

Just checked their website, very interesting products, what do you use to clean your engine compartment?

I spray a light coating of 2:1 water and Simple Green cleaner, wait about 5 minutes, hose off the cleaner, blow off the excess water with a leaf blower, and then apply a list misting of this over the entire engine bay.

Yeah, a tip of the hat to 03mmmonroe, I was using Stoners More Shine, but Russ got me hooked up with Croftgate Tire Shine for the engine bay as well as the tires.
