Way to go. My poor system can't take any more all-nighters like that Marathon Tuesday. Great Baseball. Our own Nellie Fox will sleep well tonight, after waiting all these years.:D

Great day for Sox , whether you cheer them or wear them.
They are truly the best!
I just got back from a vacation in the Dominican Republic. I went two weeks without wearing Sox once. :)
Best,
Dan

Congrats :congrats: to the White Sox and their fans. It has been a long time since I've heard Nelson Fox mentioned. Anybody remember what made Nellie's bats distinctive "back in the day".?
Say, do we have any more Sox in baseball?
If so, I am betting on them for 06! This Sock thing might be a trend, who knows?!
Hmm, we don't have any Shoe teams now, do we? :D
But seriously, congrats to all of the White Sox fans. It just somehow seems right for two of baseballs biggest underdogs to win in back to back World Championships.
Best,
Dan

No I don't remember about his bats but I do remember that he struck out less than anyone in BB, that he had 2 great Latin shortstops, that he played with in Chicago. I also remember that he played for the ASTROS and that they could have used him in this series. they should have called him up!Dennis

Might have been difficult since he passed away in 1975 at the age of 47.
Fox only played for Houston for one season or so. Most of his career was in Chicago. Nellie Fox still holds the records for double plays and one of his partners was SS-Luis Aparicio (before Aparicio went to Baltimore to wear the #11 in the 1960's). :D
BTW -- Nellie Fox's bat had no nub on the handle. They were just a large tapered end.
Nellie Fox used a "bottleneck" bat. It didn't taper slowly from handle to barrel, it looked like a beer bottle which was narrow at the bottom and suddenly ballooned out to a very wide barrel. I saw him play for Houston back in the '60's.

Astros..0 for 4. They could have used him! Dead would have fit right into the batting order. Dennis:alone:
