The one that kid posted was clearly a Marquis or a Vic, and definitely not a 98+ Car either

Can anyone in dearborn go by and snap some pics.

Does the VIN follow in our sequneces?

Anyone in that area that can take a close look-see? I'd be interested in what the badging and lettering on the sides is...

It says its a 2004; but the last 6 of the VIN are lower than my 2003 built in Jan '03. Did they restart the VIN clock at 6xxxxx for the '04 model. :dunno:

Do I see SS Inserts and a badge on the driver's side? Grill looks badgeless, though.

M79 is definitely a 2004, and the 10th digit is a 4!

Need to get the VIN to Roy and let him run the numbers to see what the story is on this. In the other photos the paint does not look bad at all.

I live close by. Let me get a looksie. It looks like the Cashmere Marauder I spoke about during the "white marauder" debate. For those that don't know Cashmere is similar in color to white. Give me a day or two.

Yes they do restart the VIN at a new model year.

Look at the wagon in the background across the street as well as the Thaoe/Suburban behind the pass rear.

Was it a repaint or a rare-color choice?? If it's a repaint, I wonder why.

Probably a repaint. Someone just being different I guess.

Or it could have had the "good" black paint from the factory.....

Besides - this supposedly had to be in TX in order to race his mom's car or whatver the hell he was talking about. Dearborn and TX are a bit far apart.

They have the photos posted in Flash, so you cant hotlink them,

Go to the dealer's website, click on search inventory and search for Mercury, model Marauder. The listing will come it. It shows a rear 3/4 view, and interior shots. Whoever painted it did a good job, the jams are white as well. Wonder if they went to the trouble of painting under the hoot, trunk lid, and engine compartment.

I recall Steve Babcock back in the day mentioning a possible white Marauder in the future, so here's what it would look like.

Not a problem, I do alot of Oasis reports for the Mach 1 Registry. Everyone wants a build date(born on). Hang tight, and I hope everything else faired well.

Not only were the door jambs painted, but they put all the stickers back on. Someone went through a lot of trouble to get that car to look like a factory job...

It would be nice to be able to get the future owner of the car on the boards that way we could get better pics of it hehe. Hey, maybe this was a ford concept paint job and the car was accidently released and sold

While we are on this subject, didn't one of our members come across a bronze or rust colored Marauder in a parking lot a while back. I want to say it was Bigslim but I could be wrong. Someone said it was definitely NOT Dark Toreador Red. Did anyone ever snap a picture of it or know what the outcome of that discussion was? Was it a hoax or did it really exist? Just curious.

I can stop by and get a picture. I can also tell you that De-Tech collision probably did the work. I say this because they have done just about all the oddball color Marauders here. Also, they are the ones doing the laser cut names and "Godheads" on the side of the car.

I stopped and looked at it this morning. It looks ok to me. I dont care for the color. If it were plain "white" or "pearl white" i think it would look good. But its kind of a parchment or vanilla color. Definately not white. But whoever did it did a good job. It was early and i was in a rush so i didnt crawl all over it. Ill keep the DTR.

It is probably that Chrysler paint called "Cool Vanilla" used on the 300's.

Well I stopped by today to check it out. It definitely is not white. More of a lite cream, cool vanilla, cashmere color. While the paint is good it doesn't qualify as factory. The right fender is a shade lighter than the right front door. Paint is peeling off the door moulding edge on the LF door. And for some reason there is a blemish in the trunk 6-9" down from the rear glass and 1" in on the left side. The trunk appears to be tweaked. The right side of the trunk sits .25" lower than the quarter panel and tail light, lthe left side sits roughly that higher. Paint is chipped or peeled in various other places. The weatherstripping on the trunk and LR door needs replaced. They wont stay attached to the metal. The hood on the left side is slightly higher than the fender. Overall it doesn't appear bad from a distance but up close you can notice the "problems".

The salesman did say that they want move this in a hurry as they don't know much about the Marauder and have only 3 FOMOCO products on the lot. He said make them a reasonable offer and it's your's.
Call the used car dept and ask for Mark Martin.

Me and Wes looked at it today. We found out the car has a 10 step paint job. Take 10 steps back and it looks great. The paint was peeling and chipped in various spots. I would advise to stick with a factory paint marauder. It doesn't look too great for a two year old car.

For it to look like MY factory paint, it would have to have little spider-egg looking spots in it and be VERY thin. I'm thinking it's probably better than factory paint.
