Chrome Interior Door Handles

Got them done, last night was the first time I drove it after dark. Nice, park and be able to easily find the shiny door handles! Door lock buttons coming up next.

Wow, what was involved? The last posts I saw indicated that they would not fit our cars. What is the true story? Thanks Dennis:)

Did you end up figuring out a way to take them apart w/o having to destroy the old ones ?.

Anyone here with an 04 that ordered these chrome handles ?.

Did you check to see if the chrome ones were in fact different than your 04 ones ... or did you send them back yet ?.

I'd like to try & zero in on exactly when this slight change in the door handle sizes occured.

Was it not until the 05 GM ?.

Was it in 04 ?.

Was it the 2003 300B & forward cars ?.

Fordnut has a 300A - Cruzer has a 300B(first one to discover the difference IIRC) ..... so I guess we can assume ALL the 2003's were in fact different than the 05's.

With that said ... it should boil down to 04 VS 05.

If in fact it was in 04 ... was it the whole entire model year run ... or just part of it ?.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Alright, I've got lots of pics from when I did the swap. I don't have high speed access right now so I'll have to post them later. The '03-'04 are the same, the '05 are different. Yes, I had to destroy the housings for the new chrome handles to get the handles apart and also had to destroy the black handles from the old housings. Then I just put the leftover stuff together. As posted in the other thread it took about 3 hours to do the first one 'cause I was doing the "R&D", then the second one took about 1 hour 'cause I was still learning (and taking pics), then about 1/2 hour each for the other two.

I have the chrome door lock buttons. I took them out of my 96 Grand Marquis.
