We did it for another member, now Phil needs our help.

This is the secound time I've had major issues. The first resulted in a complete rebuild. I had resorces at that time I could draw apon to get the work done. This time...

I may be well and truly :censor:
We helped out MarauderMark when his engine went south and we help members in Flordia last year after the Ivan and the other hurricans devastated that state. Now Mad-3R (Phil & Tasha) need our help. I am asking those members here who know Phil & Tasha whether personally and those that only know them through MM.net to contribute something, anything to help them out. I will start with $50 to help them getting 'Revenant' back running again.

***Can we make this a Sticky***
Consider it stuck:)

Ok, $50 bucks, DefyantWife and I are in. But to who, where and when do we send it?

Revenant? Now this is appropriate!

Reverant means: One that returns after a lengthy absence. One who returns after death.

That is a kewl name for a Marauder!

Appropriate yes, for 'Revenant' look at Phil's signature near his Avatar.

If Phil has a paypal account, you can send the money there or I can PM you his address.

I spent most of today in a fog over the very thought of people willing to help me out with this. I have seen it before, but to be the one on the reciving end of the generosity is something totaly different.

My first inclination was to say "Thank you, but I can handle this myself." But after looking things over, I realize that I do need help.

So, here it is.

Ladie's and Gentelmen, I need help.

paypal to

Home adress ask and it will be provided.

A complete record will be kept and regular updates as to what is going on.

Thank you again.

Well, I have finished my preliminary examination. The chains on the passenger side are still taunt and in place. On the driver side, the cam chain is still on and taunt, but the timing chain is hanging loose and is obviously bracken.

I will be contacting a local repair shop to figure out how much it’s going to run.

Well, the car gets taken to the shop next Saturday.

The wife and I have had plans to be heading out of town this weekend for a few months now.

So next Saturday, we will be renting a u-haul flatbed and taking it to the shop.

Well, over a week after I was hopeing to hear something, I have some news.

They had to send my heads off to me machined. The valvies did strike the pistons. One of the cams had a groove from possable low of oil presure, they sent the block off to be machined aswell. So there will be new bearings and such when they botton it up again.

Well, the update is that they finally have all the pieces. Now their putting it all together. They said we should have the car by Wednesday January 18th (today is the 17th). The final damage looks like it's going to be $5100.00. They had to replace a head and repair the valves and this had to be done in Houston as they don't actually do engine work here in Lewisville.

I will be calling them on Wednesday the 18th to find out what's going on and will let everyone know then.

Update on Thursday January 19th.

Well, I finally got the invoice in from out shop. The total damage is $5,520.01.:(

They had to do a valve job, new heads, new cams and new oil pump. I swear every time I called them (they never called us) something else needed to be done. We are going to demand to see the parts that they replaced. The main question is the oil pump, we had a new one installed the last time we had the car fixed and it was a billet aluminum one. This one is an "oil pump with cryo coated gears". Whatever that is. Is it better? :help:

But they said we should have the car back by next week. They've next weeked us for 2 months now. This is starting to get ridiculus.

I just can't wait until we get Revenant back.

The oil pumps in the mod motors do let go (in fact they can be a real weak link) and when they go it can be unpredictable and catastrophic. Even a brand new pump can ***** the bed.

Sorry to hear the damage was so extensive. I hope you get your car back soon.

The support of our friends and family has been a Godsend. And even with that help we are truly hurting. I'm in negotiations now to get a small loan from a family member that we will pay back over time.

On the other hand Phil has had 5 calls in 3 days about possible jobs. Now they just have to agree that they like him and will hire him and we are golden.

Those kinds of numbers would put a crimp in most !!! :ouch: :(

Glad to hear that Revenant is on the road to recovery. :D And, here's hoping that Phil gets golden .... soon !!

I know that your engine problems are unrelated; but maybe that $5520.01 is a good number to use that next time someone asks the question of "Is is OK to run 87 Octane in the Marauder?" Fixing the power plant on the MM ain't cheap.

The difference between 87 and 93 for me is about $0.20 per gallon. That means that I would have to drive the MM more than 550,000 miles (about 25 years for me) to save enough money to pay for the potential engine repair that might happen. This is a "No Brainer" ...... use 91 or better.
Did I do that math right??? :dunno:

Yes Bluerauder, you are correct.
Assuming we get an average of 20 mpg on our Marauder, you'd have to drive it
552,000 miles to save enough money to repair your engine.

With that said, even under normal wear, our engines probably wouldn't even last that long.
I could see getting 250k or even 300k out of an engine, before it has to be rebuilt.

Time for a new update.

We took Revenant to a friends shop on Friday and when we went to leave it wouldn't start. :mad2: Finally got hold of the shop again on Saturday and had it towed to them. Phil called them on Monday and it seems that the battery had a dead cell that died sometime between 3:30 and 8:00pm on Friday. So we finally got Revenant back AGAIN Monday night. :shake:

So we are once again a two car family and he doesn't have to wait for me to go to a job interview. And with him having a two week job starting Thursday I don't have to have him drive back and forth.
