Do you have
1. A full size spare?
2. A Clock IN the dash?
3. No Traction Control switch on the left of the steering wheel?
4. Map Pockets on the front of the seats?
If you answer yes to ALL these Items, you have a 300a

Another way to tell by just looking at the exterior is the fuel door. if you can open it from the outside, then its a 300 B or later. If you have a popping one, its a 300 A.

You have a 300A. Your search engine must be busted...
300 A : full-sized spare, gas lid release inside, clock in dash, no traction control
300B: "rental sized" spare, no gas lid release inside, no clock, traction control
Welcome to the collective...

Also the windshield's are different. A's have a fading tint as a banner, B's have dots across the top.

I've just got a loan on a 2003MM in MA and will be picking it up tomorow. My best friend is a Ford mechanic on the MA coast and quite a gearhead and never heard of 300A or 300B when I mentioned after reading here. Thank you all who've posted in this thread, I now know that I have just purchased a 300A with 57k miles, mostly highway. 9 of my last 11 cars have been 86 or older and I see no need for traction control so am quite looking forward to driving the 2 hours home with my new prize. Thanks again everyone.

Now, to throw a wrench into the whole 300A/B thing, the cars that were for sale in Canada are considered 300As, but are partly decontented, so we're also like the US 300Bs. My car has the donut spare and traction control, but also has pockets in the front seats, clock in the dash and remote fuel door release.

Bruce, where are you from? You've got a Canadian 300A, if the speedo is in Km/h.

With a build date that early, it could only be a 300A.
front seat pockets
remote fuel door
full unpolished spare
auto parking break release
black only
The car Ford MEANT to build... IMO:)
Edit: Oh yeah, and no Traction Control
