I took a gander in the current Black Book(dealers guide to appraise used cars)
I was somewhat pleased to see the '04 Marauders going through the auction in these parts are averaging close to $20000.00(forgot to look for any possible add ons)
Sorry Logan, You can't buy one for eleven.:P
I am not currently interested in selling, But I think I could breath, if I was forced to sell.

Is that the Blue book?
I got the Black Book crap treatment from a dealer last trip to the showroom.

Black book is a small black book with price info the dealers have. I think it holds what typical auction or wholesale value is for cars. Any dealer you go to will pull it out of their back pocket look in it and give you a value based on it.
When I was trying to trade in my Grand Am a while back the black book had them offering me $5000 when they had one on the lot similar to mine but in worse shape and only a few less miles for $11500.

Nada is usually refered to by insurance companies and banks.
It is usually much higher than Black book.

Car Max is paying top dollar for used cars in our area.
They get big money for used cars, they inspect and recondition very well!

I think it is referred to the black book because that is what it makes a dealer's profits look like. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

That is exactly what the Black book prices reflect, what cars changed hands for $$$
I guess you kept your Grand am?

If you want an accurate reflection of what the market will bear for your car, go to kbb.com, and when you look up the values use the FAIR condition for your vehicle, do not use Good or Excellent.
Fair is what all the dealers I've dealt with use to valuate incoming trades for wholesale.
I've got the "black" book and it's usually on drugs. kbb.com has always been solid.
2003 300A with 36k miles... $12,170 is wholesale/trade-in on that sucker.
I can routinely find 03's for $13-15k... No problems...

i ran into a guy last week and he was admiring my MM... he told me he transported cars all over the USA and that texas had the lowest wholesale prices and was the best place to buy used cars. I dont know if it is true but if so it sure explains the super low trade in values around here.
on the other hand, when i went to carmax they even printed out a KBB report and showed a 04 MM with my options and mileage in good condtion trade in value 19,185. then they offered me 20,000 ...even if i didnt buy a car from them.

Not according to the Dealers guide, That figure is low.
Even the credible source of KBB says, most fall in the "good" catagory.
Wholesale is closer to fourteen.
I looked at Cars. com a month ago '03's with 36K were selling for 16-18 grands:D
Not saying, one couldn't find one for less.
I made a comment on, an '04 being Near twenty Grands Average wholesale(no adds) in this area.
Good luck on finding another one Logan!:coolman:
Black book is what the cars sell for wholesale, to people who paid for a liscense to purchace cars to resell .
Drugs or not?

Bradley, I'm hearing the same things from local dealers. The Marauder is the "hot car" and in high demand.:D

Well I went to refinance my car loan, and was thinknig of adding some cash to the principle to fund some upgrades, and the bank did the KBB lookup...they told me my '03 300B w/ 25k is worth $16000. Not so bad considering I'm sure they looked at trade in value.
Here in VA, on a lot that car would be anywhere between $20k-24k
As for my Grand Am, no I didn't sell it back then, but 30,000 miles later I traded it in for $500 more when I went to purchase my Marauder. Used it as the down-payment. :)
I may have gotten ripped a bit, but it was already leaking from the lower intake manifold, a major problem that is a labor intensive repair. I've done one (on my sisters Grand Am) and it's not pretty. So I couldn't sell it to a person knowing that (morally). I could however dump it on a dealer who will sell it with a warranty.

WOW,
I was looking up the value of my 2004 and it came back as $16k.
Then I looked to see if any Marauders were listed and this is what showed up !
DTR in the Bronx !!!

Puhleeeeeease. Don't bother with the "Good" rating in KBB, that's an upper bound on the best of days. Fair is typical.
Trust me, I've no problem finding 03 marauders for $13-14k here in Texas.
An 04, around 20k miles, $17-18k.

Maybe you should buy a couple 'o3's @13K or '04's @17 K, bring them to Chicago and enjoy a tidy profit.
Specially, with manners like that!:P

Run of the mill LS GMQ's were six grands less than a Marauder.

Those books are based mostly on the average of what cars bring at dealer auction.
The problem is that for cars which rarely cross the block, they just make up the figures.
Bradley G

That is not correct either, If there are no recent auction numbers to determine the value(too new), Ford/ dealers/ banks/ insurance co.'s refers to what the vehicle cost new and deciedes(guesses;) ) accordingly.
Granted , the Marauder being a low production vehicle, there are fewer numbers to caculate value.
There are hundreds of Marauders for sale, nationwide
2%.:P
