They either pull off with alot of force or try heating it with very hot / boiling water.

When I saw that......I didn't even try to get it off of the mounting base??!! :argue:

It seems if the old valve is functional and not gunked up it must be OK....Is that true??

I have never replaced a PCV valve...just cleaned them!!

I'm taking this sucker back today!!

Hey Bradley....

I'm sure they will at $75.00 an hour plus parts....That dang little piece of plastic was $15.75!!! :mad2:

I really don't think they go bad unless gunked up from lack of oil changes or pure neglect...Heck it's just a little plastic check valve?? A solvent wash and back to "bidness"

Heat it up, and it comes right out.

You know how some days just don't work right!!?? :banned:

BTW.....How do you get the old one off of the mounting base?? It looks like it turns in and has two locking ears??

I do beleive it is a twist fit. Make sure the new one is the same. Just twist it and it comes out. Seals better than a pop in type.

Ford Escapes use the twist in design. But its located in the valley of the motor! Youy have to remove the intake box and hoses etc. Then you have to access it with 45 degree bent nose pliers! Be glad our cars are V8 RWD!

I hope I'm not the only one who has just taken off the PCV, washed it out with carb cleaner spray, and put it back in. Haven't done that on the MM yet, maybe it's about time.

My Dodge I-4 FWD K-car had a pop in PCV. The T-bird has a pop in PVC. The E-250 and the Vic both have pop in PVCs as well. I never had a problem with leakage. Just replace the grommet if it wears out.

The hard plastic thing that Marauderjack is referring to here is bothering me too.
This seems to be a dumb design by Ford. I have not done one of these myself yet but in all
honesty, does anyone here think this design will last the life of the car?
How many times can you keep using the old part before it breaks?

Has anybody come up with a soft rubber piece that we can use instead?
If not, who has the part number for the hard plastic piece as I probably want to purchase one before attempting to change the PCV valve for fear of damage?

Most PCV's are generic and use the plastic-right-angle for specific applications. If you heat it in hot water it will come right off.

Anyone got a pic of the Marauder PCV valve?

Most Motorcraft PCV valves include a small assortment of angle fittings for universal applications.

BTW, ONLY use a Motorcraft PCV valve. Other brands, like fram, tend to suck up oil through the PCV.

Once again our site has come through. The answer was to heat up the plastic piece, as I did with a blow dryer. It did come out.

However, one of my original questions still goes unanswered and so I will reiterate, "Does anyone think this plastic piece is going to last the life of the car?" I can't imagine you can keep heating this thing over and over again.

I thought I made out a number on it like "PA66" but did anyone here actually get a replacement from a dealer or sort? What's the Ford big part number and how much?
I think I would like to have a spare to keep around.

Eventually yours will dry out and disintegrate when you go to change it Some replacements come with a new plastic elbow. Just buy one of those.

So fastblackmerc, when you did yours, the PCV valve box contained the valve and the plastic elbow? I have yet to see a line item for the plastic elbow under the automotive sites. I ordered 2 PCV valves from www.rockauto.com and I received 2 small boxes that just contained PCV valves, no elbows.
Who do you use as a supplier and do you have the Ford part number for the elbow?
