This is a non marauder question, but very simple. My tranny went out on my truck (K5 Blazer) and I want to make it manual from auto. Is there much to it besides adding the 3rd petal and cutting a hole in the floor? Also I was planning on getting a rebuilt tranny so is a manual rebuilt tranny a risk? I need to know asap because the company that towed it needs to know what to do with it by the end of the day. Thanks.

I'm guessing there's a bit more to it, like changing the PCM to accept manual tranny commands. Also tranny crossmember, drive shaft/s(if 4WD) will be different. It's not a simple tranny swap. In California it wouldn't be smog legal without a lot of jumping through hoops:D
Best way to approach it is with a donnor vehicle that was a manual tranny.
Good luck.
My 2 cents

Should be an easy swap. I think you'll need the following:
Manual trans (you run the risk with a rebuilt just as you would with any other rebuilt part, all depends on who rebuilt it)
Correct bell housing
Correct flywheel
Clutch
Pressure plate
Throw out bearing
Throw out bearing fork
Pivot ball for the fork(?)
Hydralics (sp) (if so equipt)
Manual trans mount
Correct crossmember
Clutch / brake pedal assembly
Correct console or shift boot assembly
Different driveshaft (longer or shorter & maybe different front yoke)
Might need a different speedo gear
That's all I can think of right now. :D

What about radiator. Was that same for that year/model?

As fastblackmerc said ^^^, there's a LOT more to it than just cutting a hole in the floor and adding a pedal...unless this Blazer has extraordinary sentimental value, or a manual transmission is VERY important to you, it's not a job I'd undertake lightly.

I think I'll pass for now. Yes it's very important to me sense I had it when I was 6. It's a 1990 you can see in my signature and I didn't really think about it, but because the floor is so low as to the seat so high the shifts wouldn't be great, they would actually be quite lengthy. Sorry I started this form, but thanks for the info on this. :sorry:
Why dont you just install a manual valve body and shift it 'on the tree'?
