Would you go with single or multidisk? And why?

Current setup 3:55 gears, PHP CAI, 180 deg thermo, denso plugs
p/ns for my 04 marauder, according to vicky at Precision Industries:
for 3:55 gears
single 69016
multi-disk 469018-3

I have the single disk.
25000 miles and no problems.

Be ready to findle with the torque converter lock up to get it how you like it.
If you find the converter unlocking in OD at light throttle on the highway you will get a lot of RPM with the new conveter for very little extra MPH.

My set up locks the converter in 3rd and OD and remains locked down to about 35mph,acts like a stick shift.
Also picked up the mileage on the highway a little.Lost about 2 mpg at TC unlock speeds, but the power is always at the ready .

If you added the Kooks long tubes you would have the same set up as I do.

I called PI before ordering mine and even with the S/C they recommended the single disk. I also opted for the 3500 stall because I have a ProCharger set up a tad higher than the stock kits so I wanted to get into it faster.

Otherwise the consensus seems to be 3000 stall if fine.

Cheers!

Im so tempted to get a TC. Im just worried about driveability. Thats the only think stopping me.
I want the same feel the car has now.

I just made installed mine about a week ago and i don,t see any driveability issues. The car just goes up in the rpm faster and accelerate accordingly.

Off the fooling around mood, just as smooth as before. I haven't check about gas mileage but a mod like that will probably cost a bit more i guess but is more than compensated with the gain in the fun factor.

I would recommend you stick with your factory converter if this is a truly critical issue for you.

Driveability is high on my priority list, and I feel with the PI 3K I've lost some of that. Noticeably at what I call tip in. Thats where you just start applying throttle. The higher stall requires more throttle to 'get going' but it definitely rewards you once its going.

I believe a custom tune for the trans shifting and OD, and lock/unlock would help tune that out somehwat, it still going to be there. I'm at the point of giving that a try and then if I still don't like it, go back to the factory converter.

1) Well if anyone is going to give it a try I'm sure a few of us would want to try it if you decide to resell.

2) I've heard of another company that sells a TC that works for us. I didn't know if anyone has had any experience w/ it, price, and if they think it's of the same quality as the PI converter.

3) Are there any special considerations given I may buy it from a 3rd party vendor? Would I be losing any changes that a supporting vendor could be making to get the TC to work well in the MMarauder. I would lean towards a supporting vendor, but given the fact that I'll have to have a local shop do the install (unless I could do it myself) I'd tend to go w/ a good price.

4) Has anyone done the rear engine cooling kit as well? Considering it's a general consensus that the MMarauder should have one since it is lacking, & it's smart to do it while you have the access to it during a TC install, what are your performance experiences and who all carries/manuf. this part? pricing?

I will sell you a new 300 PI stall for $695.00. Shipping is about $19.00. Install time is about 2 1/2 Hours for a good shop. I paid $300.00 to have mine Installed. I loved my converter. After the first Day, you really don't notice the tip in that much but it makes the cars run so much nicer. Let me know if I can help.

The tune will have a significant impact on the "driveability" of a looser torque converter. Do you already have or plan on getting an aftermarket tune for your car when you put the t/c in? The OEM tune is not very user friendly with a aftermarket torque converter.

i'd definitely get it retuned. I'm running a DR 3:55 tune right now and I'd at least ask for a new pre-made tune if not a custom tune where I'm running a dyno and having DR remote in or shoot him xcal log files

Dennis has a real nice "around town" tc lockup schedule for the Stallion torque converter. I ran it for a year with the PI 3000 stall while I was still N/A and loved it.
