300B and decontenting

After reading all the discussions on this, I'm curious about the 300Bs.
There are a few that were not decontented from the 300A at all, other than the temporary spare.

Others seem to have 300Bs with varying levels of decontenting.

How many 300B owners have first run cars that were not decontented, and how many have decontented 300Bs? please specify what was "decontented" from your car.

My 300B was not decontented. Build date 12 Nov 2002

How about the last 5 or 6 digits of the VIN and/or actual production dates of the vehicles along with what was de-contented or added,such as heated seats,etc? That would also help prospective buyers searching at dealers on the web find a car with the amount of content that they want.

Mine is a 300B.
Mine was not decontented, except it has a mini spare.
Mine has a very cool chrome shifter bezel and shift button (bling-bling!!)
Mine was built 11-04-02.

My 300b is decontented. It was built 01/03. It wasn't till after I purchased my MM that I found out all 300B MM's are not decontented. I am not disappointed in any way, this the best car I purchased since my 65 Vette. John:D

mine is 2-21-03 300B, i can't tell what was decontented except I know the rear speaker grilles are gone, and i have a mini spare. there is an a/c outlet inside the center console which is nice for the phone. maybe that was always there. i also do not have pockets on the front of the seats.

also there is a little black vortex next to the driver side seat which captures pennies if they fall out of my pocket and transports them straight to Bill Ford. I think that might be new.

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I'm new here. What is the difference between a 300A and 300B? What is "decontenting?"

The 300A's were the first production run.

Some of the main defferances.
300A did not have Traction Control, but did have a full size (front) spare.
300B has Traction Control, a mini spare. from there the decontent (stripped out for cost savings) was removel of the stand alone clock, the Gas door release, and the front seat pockets.

automatic parking brake release went bye bye, also the cd changer went from $350 to $395 accessory for more profit. front under splash guards that have the air deflector are now one piece instead of 2 piece design, rear 3rd brake light now has rubber bumpers holding it from the glass instead of the full perimeter rubber seal. these are just supplier changes as ford puts the squeeze on them. i bet soon to be deleated items are: keypad entry, cornering lights - the lights that come on with the turn signal to light up the road which you would be turning onto, compass, homelink system - programs gates and garage doors, power lumber, cd with tape player - will be just tape, rear key hole - notice the passenger's side already disappeared.

The heated seats on my 300B were $260.00 and I saw them recently listed for $295.00. More profit to pay for the Traction Control. John

Anybody with a 300B have the plastic ashtray?
I saw one at a dealership and it didn't have one.
Salesclown knew nothing about it.[a real surprise:rolleyes: ]
Most of the photo's I've seen don't show one either.:alone:

My ashtray was plastic, and removeable. IT sits in my glove box, and I use it as a G- force meter. When it goes bouncing around the inside, I took the corner tyo fast. :)

The passenger side key lock has been removed from vehicles with remote entry for some time. It's because it's redundant.

I doubt the other things you say might be decontented will be, and so far it looks like there will be an additional selection for the radio in 2004

General Motors has also decontented items, in addition to moving larger standard items to the options list (such as anti-lock brakes) while keeping the price the same.

Had time to check out the 300B's today while having my 10,000 mile service.
Yes, to all the above that was changed. However, on both the black 300Bs I looked at they had the better windshield wippers that don't jump up and down. Same as on the Lin. Cont. Town Car.
