Been reading a fair number of threads about the leather on the steering wheel wearing off and getting nasty over time. I know it's going to happen...between sun, sweat, skin oils, etc....it will wear.
So I was at WalMart and decided to pick up one of those slip on covers. I found a nice black fake leather one that matches VERY well. It's obvious I have a cover, but removable for car shows or when I don't want the look.
For all the other times it doesn't stand out bad, and after driving with it I kinda like the feel of the thicker wheel rim.
Anyway...it's made by "Bell" and available at WalMart. If you don't like this one they have plenty of other styles including Taz and Tweety.

I know...it's not perfectly straight...if it bothers me I'll have to reposition it. Once it's on it's not really moveable which is nice...means it wont rub the leather underneath when turning the wheel.
This should offer a fair amount of protection...right?

I drove Russ's car and he had the Walmart cover as well. I liked it so much I bought one for my Vic as well. We have plastic steering wheels and I think the 'Rauders have leather covered wheels, which has more traction.
IMHO it's still not a Hogue. :P
I've had five Panthers with leather stitched steering wheels. After putting a slip cover like that on my first one, I never went back. The one on my Sport closely resembles the Dark Charcoal Grey wheel on my car. It does protect them well as I can attest, but you get used to them and never take them off!

Now I can save the condition of my steering wheel for posterity. Only Taz and Tweety, no Sylvester. :(

I actually have 2 steering wheel covers on mine. One gives it the extra wide grip while the other is like a soft terrycloth towel that is held on with elastic. Pics coming soon.

Autozone has one I purchased that almost perfectly matches the dot matix pattern of our trim.

Had this steering wheel cover custom made out of the same MM interior leather. Will try to get a better pic.
Just made my 1,000th post... this is a great site.
