View Full Version : Eibachs installed...finally

Well I finally got around to getting my Eibach springs installed and first inpressions were pleasing. The ride is more bouncy than before but looking at the difference in the front end height and brand new springs, that is to be expected. On the road...I have to say the ride is better than the OEM's. No alignment yet but the car tracks stright as an arrow. The look is exactly what I was looking for and I didn't even adjust the rear sensor.Also what I have discovered is, that now that she is dropped, you get a better idea of how wide a tire you can put under there, without sticking out beyond the well. I think this would afford a little more leadway with a lower offset wheel. All in all, I can't wait to see what she does around the bends and exit ramps.

Hey hey hey....what did you say (in a Fat Albert voice) I have had Eibachs before and they did not rub me wrong. I will let you know in a few months.

I opted to cut my springs 1 turn to lower it a bit and I lowered the rear to match. My car isn't as low as with Eibach's but it is noticable....maybe about 2/3 of the way closer to the Eibach's than stock.

I had my car realigned right after with slightly more camber than stock so she handles even better. :)

But you are right.....you do get a better idea of what tire fits.

I know you will love them. The exit ramps and curves are nothing anymore. Dont think of it as more bouncy, but rather more sport tuned:D

that has the perfect stance i think. i hear its a better idea to weld the spring together than cut it in an effort to salvage the spring rate? true?

Weld the spring together? I'm not sure I follow.

Cutting 1 turn is what Kenny Brown does to his Marauders.

like compress the 1st and 2nd coil together and weld them tight. or something, i have no idea regarding the details cuz im no mechanic, i was just told this is better to retain the spring rate of the spring versus chopping off a coil...

Interesting idea...never thought about doing it that way.
My only concern would be that the heat generated while welding the two coils together might ruin the spring steel's temper....Anyone ever seen this, or tried it?
