Does anyone know the ins and outs of the Ford warranty? If you modify the engine does it void the entire warranty. It would seem to be a ripoff if I modded the engine and then they wouldn't cover a parking brake repair or a faulty radio.

Well all I can do is offer my opinion..... and I think a lot of it depends on your local dealer. I am S/C'd but would fully expect that my dealer would cover issues that are not related to the driveline. My local dealer tends to be very mod friendly... so much so that they might even hook me up on a transmission problem (as long as it didn't require regional to check me out) but the engine and rear end (since both are modified) I would expect I'd be on my own.

But ... as I qualified above... my opinion.... I don't know legally where one would stand. And, like most things in our legal system...you might have a right to something... but can you afford the lawyer to fight the corporation to get what is yours?

Modifying yout engine will TEST your relationship with your dealer.

You have to have an understanding of what they can do for you,
as well as what you can do for them.
If you understand this relationship, then you will also understand
how far an occasional box of donuts and coffee will go...

Depends on the dealership and how cool they are with you. I went in for a blown engine(threw 2 pistons) with 4 bald tires and lowered to the point I don't even have a clue how it got on a lift. Most the dealerships are like whatever just give us good marks on the survey. Thing is you really don't know what dealerships those are. On my other forums(6) in the reigonal section they have a list of good/bad dealerships. To the best of my knoledge the part you modified is what you will run into trouble trying to replace. I remember dodge would blame a stain on the back seat for why your radio shorted out.

I have had trouble before doing any mods..
So to me if I did any further mods It wouldn't really
matter..I had spent the last two months fighting
with them about the paint..and out of four dealers
the only one that did anything worthwhile for me was
Oakland..even then they didn't help me with the paint
issue..Finding a good dealer makes all the difference in the
world and ask them before you do anything...otherwise
your on your own..
