Hey guys, after recently totalling my mustang, I sought comfort in the arms of a new marauder, and let me say that this car is HOT. I couldnt be happier, its the perfect car to drown my sorrow in....seeing as it has the same motor.
Anyway, I like your forums alot, and look forward to some great advice since I am a complete newbie to the platform. My first question to you guys is what are the first mods people usually get? Like is there even a chip out for the marauder yet? what about CAI? I saw that the intake was metal...do people PnP it?
Sorry for the q's.

Welcome rurumon. If you have any questions, we'll be there to help. I can't answer anything about the Marauder, but if you ask me any thing about racing, I'll be there.

cool. Im no stranger to racing. the tang and I had some good days at richmond. As I read the board I hear alot about these reinhart chips, but it seems to me that everyone gets them with plugs and a new thermo. This true? Does anyone make a CAI for the marauder yet, looking under the hood tells me this poor baby is being strangled by poor breathing and 8 million catalytic conv's.

same motor ?! 4.6 DOHC 4V with aluminum block and heads to the 01 gt's sohc 2V with a cast iron block doesn't sound the same!

It's the same with my dad's T-Bird. It's a '96 4.6 DOHC engine.
BTW, whose your favorite NASCAR Winston Cup driver?

Welcome! This is the best and ONLY site for Marauder info...the people here know more about the car than the dealer...although that's a kind of half-a$$ed compliment as the dealers know nothing!
As far as mods, many of us have a chip, cooler plugs and thermostat from Dennis Reinhart www.reinhartautomotive.com .
He also has 4.10 gearsets and underdrive pulleys, and is currently working on a CAI package, headers, and a blower... stick around, the fun is just beginning...

cool cool. So this package that includes the plugs, chip and stat. How much is it? PITA to install? or something I can do with my tools and a saturday afternoon. Any problems with knock after the chip install, or running to rich or lean? One last one, what kind of gains are you getting? i would imagine something similar to 20 rwhp/ 25-30 rwtq. anything down low would be cool, it seemed like the car was pretty weak until it opened up around 4 grand.
Sorry for the questions, I built up all my mustang knowledge only to have a vast majority of it not matter any more.
Thanks again

Don't worry about it. Earnhardt was a good man. Who is Colin McRea? Is he a World Rally Championship driver?

adam, the chip, plugs and thermostat are very easy to do with common hand tools; the 'stat is a little messier, but easy enough. I've already made the mistakes installing the 'stat, so PM me when you're ready and I'll give you the low-down.
The chip adds about 18 HP and 30 ft-lbs. There are absolutely no problems with knock or running rich/lean that I've heard of on this board. BTW, this motor has knock sensors, so you'll probably never hear it, it just pulls the timing back...all of us who have the chip are very happy with it.
As for prices, just give Dennis a call...
