Best I could do with a small handheld Canon A75 (3.2 Mp the size of my palm) while shivering in the 0 C evening air with a slight freezing drizzle coming down (and only wearing a jean jacket). ISO 400 makes for very noisy photos on that camera, but I was too frozen to go grab my S2Pro and tripod.
Give me a day or two and I'll cough up something nicer looking. I figure I have a few weeks to take a nice shot so I can remember that period in my life when I owned 5 V8s simultaneously (all of them fully functional - no engine blocks scattered around my front yard, thanks very much).
The new one has the spoiler on it. I'm still on the fence as to whether I like it or not. Might take some getting used to.
Malin and I still believe these cars to be the most beautiful sedans on the planet, ever. Before we moved to this new place, I used to make mention of how nice it would be to have a second one. However, having to have major warranty work done at EVERY SINGLE maintenance visit was getting old quick. And now that it was on my dime (with the extended warranty deductible) combined with the relatively inept technicians, I'd be risking financial stability over this thing. Not going to happen.
So fingers and toes are crossed that number 2 will pull through for us. I've already identified a few familiar items (wiring harness routing! loose seat flap, ticking and blue smoke at startup although not really bad yet, etc.) that will need immediate attention. Also, I'll be inheriting quite a few swirls and light scratches here and there which will take some effort to address, whereas I was pretty anal about my own car's paint condition. So I'll be a busy guy for a few days.
For starters, I'll be happy if number 2 doesn't leave any fresh rust stains on my unistone driveway like number 1 seems to enjoy doing. :censor:
You definatly need to take a whole bunch of pictures before selling #1. Make em' good, post them :D

Well I do hope this new one is the charm.
If it's smart it'll make you fall in love all over again.
Isn't there anything you can get to spray on the bits that might tend to 'drip' rust water?
Of course you could move West.... :)

Double MM (!),
Good luck with the second one. I'm using the oily rustproofong every year with very good result. Always ask them to really soak tha car everywhere. Thats kind of the price to pay in our nasty environment.
You might want to take a look at that.

Steve, glad to hear you're getting a new one. You should donate the old one to the Canadian Army to use as target pratice, maybe they will let you get off the first couple of rounds. :gunfire:
...or you can arrange someone to steal it and total it for you and then you can collect the insurance money.

You are one sick f*** LOL , I wish you all the best luck on your
new to you Marauder. Its also a '03 right? When I first got my Marauder
in '04 w/ 6,000mi I went threw a thermostat, alternator & wiring harness,
tick, tick and blue smoke, all in the first 6 months. I swore I would burn
Ford headquarters down, and put my car threw the showroom floor at the
dealer. But hear I am today with 17,500 and no known problems (knock on
wood) I think overall with an exception of us, these cars are part of the
panther platform and are a reliable car. I think there in a certain draw to
these cars that know one, not even the Crown Vic owners can see, or feel.
Congrats.
Best, Mike

Damn Steve!
You had me fooled. I was thinking...TWO Marauders...what a ...dude.:P
Looks good for now though. Good call renewing the vehicle. If Ford L/M had just kept building them...can you imagine how many other folks would be doing the same thing right about now 3 years later?
As far as the pictures, you should post some of last years pics of the castle with the GOOD camera.
I am just waiting for winter again, and am glad you are active on the board again.
I enjoyed having picture wars with you, and soaking up camera tips from you. You are good...;)

Imagine my surprise! I thought with all your troubles, you'd ditch it after your lease expired!
Congrats, and bon chance! Chapeau!
300eh's, actually. Listed as 300A, but Canadian versions.
Number 1 is a mid Feb 2003 build, with CRD1 brains. TC, small spare, no fuel door, etc.. same as decontented 300Bs.
Number 2 is a mid Dec 2002 build with CRD0 brains. Same other stuff but with no trunk organizer. I wonder if they'd notice if I kept the organizer and used it on this new car? :coolman:
Strange that. Mine is an early Dec 2002, remote fuel door, BMDO brains.
I'd be swapping all the missing parts. Let's face it, I can't sell my car right now because they'll only give me $1600 less than my loan. No matter what shape #1 car is in, you won't get anything back from the lease, so Arrr matie! Pirate what you can from #1. The way most Ford salesmen are, they probabally won't notice anythings missing.

The 1st car is out of factory warranty since May, for mileage reasons. Even the full-tilt extended warranty hasn't helped keep me in the black with repairs (extended warranties suck, BTW - never again!).
TTA,
Unless you bought the FORD Premium Care Warranty, you wasted your money.
The only warranties that are any good, are Manufacturer Warranties.

Hope you have better luck with this one. I got mine on May 20th, 2004 and have driven it like, well, they said "Drive it like you stole it." :D
No troubles until I put the Diablosport Predator Mach I/Marauder tune on it. Then the third gear clutches dropped into the pan, but I paid the tranny tech building it under warranty a little extra to put an AODE & 4R70W shift kit in it and it has been fine ever since.
You're preachin' to the choir about the panther being the best looking sedan ever. I think it looks best without all the chrome trim, just put all that shiney on the wheels and leave it at that. I also think the spoiler is just that a spoiler. It spoils the lines and looks tacked on anyways.
I drop the oil on mine every 2500 miles, filter it every 5000 at the dealership. Drain and fill coolant every 18 months or 18,000 miles (coming up soon on my first). Fluids, fluids, fluids. That's what makes them last.
Also keep monkey wreches off the car at all costs! Tip or bribe the service writer to make sure only the best tech gets to work on it and tip the guy that does work on it and tell him about how you're gonna make him your personal tech when the warranty goes out and it's cutomer pays if he does a good job. It's the flat rate pay system that is the real enemy of excellence in the auto repair industry, so if you're smart, you work around it by bribing the right people.
Wash it with a brush, no rags or mitts, they only scour the clear coat with the dirt you're trying to get off of it. Very fine scratches, then you need a clay bar. I don't. Never touched it with a rag except to dry it off.
First performance thing I'd advise you do is just what I did to mine, get the 14" KVRs. You'll be glad you did.
Now if I were going to get a second car I'd get either a new 2006 Mustang or a 2002 Thunderbird convertible.

Hey lots of luck with the new (or is it actually older) ride. I'm hoping you ave as much pleasure and luck with it as I have with mine. My only non-self induced problem seems to have been the radio, which I replaced. Maybe the earlier builds were better?

Do you have traction control? How about heated seats and remote fuel door release? Do you have that center clock or integrated in the radio?
Oh well, here is a shot anyway:
Yes, TC, Remote fuel door, Center clock, map pockets, full roof console. I could have had heated seats, but chose a lower KM car that wasn't a demo. I had no plans to winter drive it, so it wasn't an issue. Bought it as they were unloading it off the carrier with 50km on it.
Nice pics BTW!
Unless you bought the FORD Premium Care Warranty, you wasted your money.

Ditto. I also got the 7 year 150,000k bumper to bumper everything-but-the-windshield-wipers warranty from Ford. Didn't help me much with the crappy paint though. :shake:

TC and all the pre-decontented stuff. And BMD0! So much for my theory of CRD0 introducing TC to the Canadian market.
At least it's looking like BMD0 Canadian models are the pre-decontented ones.
If it helps your theory, I've only 27,000k; no tick, no wiring harness issues, no smoke (some blacking on the pipes from running rich) no rear valve seal leaks or funny gas tank issues. Have I mentioned before the F:censor:n paint sucks?
