Anyone ever run electric cutouts on a winter driven car? If so, any concerns over the unit(s) failing or jamming in place from corrosion or extreme temperatures?

I worry about it and and always pull mine and put the blocking plates in. No need to open them in the winter anyway.
Hey it's what I do!

I was always told that cold winter air will creep into the exhast pipe and warp the exhast valves at shut-down due to convection.
I'm not sure about either cut-outs or warped valves.
My winter beater (89 Crown Vic PI) has no exhast after the torque converter. Everything from the "H-pipe" back fell off two years ago. No warped valves....yet. But I'd worry about cooling the aluminum heads too quickly (if the cut-outs remain stuck open).

Interesting point about the exhaust valves. To get to the exhaust valves, it would need to go through the really hot cats first, so I don't know whether anything upstream of them would be in danger. However, I did hear once about open exhausts and cats and how the pulsing of outside air into the exhaust opening could do a number on cats.
In any case, what I have in mind will still end up going through the original exhaust tips, so it shouldn't pose a problem to either my cats or anything upstream. More on that as I figure out the details... for now, I'm really just worried about the exterior components of these cutouts.
