seriously it's not even funny, like every second i'm walking around i'm expecting it to be a dream, i'm expecting myself to wake up any second now. Unfortunately, like a lot of other things in my life, I know it's never gonna happen. What i'm seeing is truth, i can't do anything to change it, and unfortunately it's not a dream and i'm not going to wake up from this nightmare.

Holy cow man, I sure am glad you are all right. It's just a car, but you are YOU!

Martin, you're still shaken from the accident, and your thoughts show it. I applaud your strength for being able to express your feelings.

When I looked at pictures #1 & #2 I thought, that car's totaled. Then, after looking at the pictures of the driver's side and rear, on both sides, I'm not so sure. Maybe Jim's buddies can get it back, good as new.

One thought hit me immediately, though; that big car saved your life. It deserves to live, and perhaps it would be wise to take your time when making a decision on what course of action to take; however, financial reasons may dictate otherwise.

Only you know all the issues that will go into making that decision, but the collective is here for you, and we'll give all the advice, wanted or not, you'll ever need. ;)

PS: you might want to edit that picture showing your license plate number.

Mike: I still don't get why everyone worries this.

Good question, Marty. Does it make a difference? Is it possible for bad guys to run that plate and actually do anything with the information? I see folks blanking out the plate info here all the time, and assumed there was a good reason. Surely, you're the guy to ask.

Please, I'm not being a smart ass, and would really like to hear your thoughts on this. Is it worth starting another thread?

Sorry for hyjacking the thread Martin, hope you don't mind a little side track.:hijack:

Glad to see you're OK Martin.

I look at the Marauder like this, they are the Secret Service for us, they take the hit and death so we may live.

Martin,
My first accident in an automobile years ago damn near killed me.
I was ashamed to look at my Father afterwards. Too much pride.

Ever since that day, I remember his words to me; 'Steel can be replaced. You my son, cannot.'

Tragic as it is, your Beast did it's job and protected you from serious bodily harm. Or worse.

My prayers to you as it will take time to get past this. Beating yourself up will not make it go away. There's a reason for everything in life.

And you are still with us. A reason to continue onwards.

Mike.

Glad you're OK.

Maybe you'll do like I did after my first crash and realise that performance brakes are the first thing to do with a car like this one.

Martin, although I've never wrecked a car, just a fender-bender or two and a couple of bumper-thumpers, your car doesn't look unrepairable. I know you can't tell with any certainty from a few on-line pictures, but I've seen cars on this site smashed worse than that, and they've been fixable.

I know you feel rotten now...I know EXACTLY how that feels...but this too shall pass. Have faith...

Why black out the license plate? If someone could do harm with that tag number should I go outside and take my tag off? I see about a hundred tags out my window right now.

My friend,

We are all glad that you walked away from that. From the looks of the pics it was a really bad accident. Before you conclude that she is beyond repair, please go take a look at her before you banish her to the solitude and loneliness of the salvage yard.

From Those pictures, It looks like there may be life after Death for that Marauder. My cousin was into the Rebuildable Car kick. He would buy high end cars and repair to sell again. His first project was a 94 300ZX Convertable that looked like a Tractor Trailer T-boned it. The car was definitly wrapped around a tree somewhere Every part of this car was hit. After 6 months of time consuming work. The 300ZX was brought back to its original self and nobody could believe it was the same car. Even something as destroyed as that, Found life again. I think it would be a good idea to really survey what damage you have inside and out. You may see that it looks a hell of a lot worse on the surface then it really is.

BTW, Did all of the Airbags deploy including the drivers seat bag??

Martin - IMO it looks repairable.

Wow sorry man.

My .02 :

If there isn't massive frame damage and you don't give it to an amateur .....

It should be repairable.

The real problem here IMHO :

The dollar amount to make it right ...

Will it be more than the car is worth on paper ?.

That's when the insurance company hands your a check & takes the keys.

A good chunk of that damage is your basic GM/CV stuff ..... tho you do have some MM specific stuff to replace as well(aka MORE $$$).

But hey if you have State Farm ..... need not you worry.

The car here BELOW ..... was estimated to be "repairable" for the oh-so lowly sum of just $7484.95.

(end of SARCASM)

Like this car could have actually been fixed for just $7500.

Good thing it wasn't valued at for that much at the time or we would have been stuck getting it fixed(& SELLING it shortly thereafter).

Dime a dozen generic car ..... can't be compared to saving a MM.

Wasn't even an XLE V6 car that most people thought it was at first glance ..... it was just an average optioned dressed up 4cyl car. I added the OEM Avalon alloys - OEM rear spoiler - HAND PAINTED pin stripes & door edge guards.

Still a shame it died a violent death thru NO fault of it's own or the operator(speeding crack head drunk rear ended it at 7:30 in the morning).

More importantly ...

I wish my wife was the same person she was BEFORE that happened.

:(

Cars can be fixed. the fact that you are ok is what you should try to focus on..... the fact that you are ok to ride the Marauder another day!!!!

Martin, I'm really sorry to hear of this. That's terrible!! However, I'm assuming that you're okay since you've posted this. Perhaps I shouldn't assume too much though. So let me atleast inquire.....have you been left with any health problems as a result of this accident? I sure hope not.

As far as your Marauder goes, sure it looks pretty ugly (hey, "pretty ugly", now that's an oxy-moron).....but really, it doesn't look all that bad as far as damage goes. I'm not a body man, but I've seen many wrecks that were much worse than that. I guess it's going to depend on exactly what is bent and crumpled undeneath those body parts. Try and cheer up my friend. Wait for the verdict from the insurance company and hope for the best. Atleast your still with us, and that's the best news that there can be!!!

Best thing to do is buy the salvage, and get a high mileage MM to run until repairs are needed.
You will then have a donor car for everythig you need that wll go wrong with the other Marauder. If you fix your damaged car, nothing will line up the way it used to, plus the paint won't ever be right. My opinion...
Thanks, Jim
