Welcome aboard. Nice assimilation already. I have Flomaster 40's and they were fine until I added the K&N Aircharger. Now they sound loud in the car. My wife however said they weren't as loud as she had expected when I pulled up along side or her on I4 at 70MPH and went WOT. She sure got small in a hurry however:beer: I am seriously contemplating putting stock mufflers back on. Dennis

Is that just muffers or a MM specific system?

I as of now have a stock exhaust with magnaflow 14s. I love the sound and the small added performance. I also have a k&n intake and I love how loud it gets at WOT. Just got a call from the Ceramic coating shop....my Kooks headers are done.....I cant wait to hear them on my car..........

Can you post a sound clip please. I am thinking about the bassani's also but would like to hear what just replacing the mufflers sounds like. Also anyone got a sound clip of just going to non resonated tips??

Sound clip ain't gonna do it justice.

Bassani Exhaust are DEEP and LOUD.
You gotta be standing behind any vehicle with a Bassani Exhaust to enjoy it.

I had a Bosal Cat-Back on my 98 Contour.
It was LOUD until I put in the silencers.
Then it was a good volume with no drone.

I had a friend with a Contour and he put on a Bassani Exhaust.
You could hear his Bassani Exhaust over my Bosal Exhaust any day...
With or Without silencers in each.

If anyone it looking for a louder and more aggressive sound...try adding the Megs Resonator delete tips. I did mine at the same time as my Flowmaster 40's. Sounds fantastic.

Please excuse my question if its dumb just new to this car and the buying of performance parts for V8's always been into SHO's before. You dont get such options with those.

If I may chime in here....

I carry them in 2.5" Inlet. The FRPP tips are ones that have been sitting around since 2001 and 2002, as well as production leftovers. THey originally made them for the Marauder, but the noise was too loud for Ford NVH engineers. None of the 'delete' tips that are in the FRPP catalog made it onto a production MM.

So, Ford contacted Megs, asked them to make it 2.25 still, but resonate it. Hence the reason that the 'delete' tips that I carry are 2.5" inlet, no resonator. The ones that FRPP sells are 2.25" because that was the tip that was originally destined for the MM. Later, when Ford killed the Marauder program, they called megs and asked what to do with the 'leftover' tips that they never used, and Megs didn't want them, so I guess Ford found something to do with em!

FWIW, a local guy in Houston picked up a pair for his vic and got one resonated and one delete tip. Might have been a leftover one from the line when they stopped the marauder.

Good luck with the Bassani Exhaust. They sound awesome!

Doesn't explicity say so, however, I've (and many others) have purchased them and they are without resonators.

*And I'm unanimous on that :D

EDITed ... As per wchain's post above it appears that this may(?) not be 100% true. Apologies for any mis-information.

The ones I picked up from Ford fit perfectly onto the stock MM's piping and were the fully-open non-restricted type.
