DEFYANT

Let me begin by saying I accomplished what I set out to do and had a great time doing it! :) But today was not to be without disappointment.
Today began real early. The trip to Mason - Dixon Dragway took about 1.5 hours in traffic. I arrived with 15 minutes left to register to race. I was assigned car #61 and waited to race.
My first trip down the track was a mess. The MM slid sideways during the burnout and then again at the launch. A quick step off, get traction, step on, resulted in more wheel spin! :shake: I stayed with it and got a 13.07 1/4.
My next trip was a better launch, but I red lighted! Aggravated, I didn't run the car that hard and got a 12.7.
But things got better.
After adjusting my technique and getting those Nittos good and hot, I came close to my goal:

My next run was my personal best ever!

I almost pulled out of it because the car felt like it was fishtailing ever so slightly. I suspect the stock suspension is to blame. But she hooked up with little or no wheel spin to a clean 12.203 1/4! :banana2:
This is where things got alittle screwy.... While hanging around waiting to run again, I found out about the money that gets awarded to the winners of each class. Wow! Wouldn't winning some cash make this even more fun? Sure would! (We'll come back to the money later)
Time trials were over and it was time to race. I guessed my dial in to be 12.40. Well, that was a good guess. Check out the dial in and the results:

Am I disqualified? :shake: Noooo. But while I was waiting to be called for the next round, it never happend. I was not called? So I quickly got to the staging lanes as the last cars in my class were finishing up. A couple of track officials came over and said I was disqualified because I missed my calling and had to back out. They quickly looked away and began talking about the Exhibition cars.
BS!
Now, I did not come for any money. I had a great time with family, friends and other like minded people. I obtained a new personal best and regained the "Fastest Marauder in Maryland" title. (Sorry Mark. But that's OK, cuz something tells me I wont have it for long).
But ca'mon? Nobody in our group heard my number called, so I accurately and prominently raise the :bs: flag on the track officials.
Oh well. It's only money right? Yeah, about $500.00!
Merc, thanks for the tips and pointers. Congrats on your win! At least CAM won something. Haggis and Breadfan, next time you guys have to run also. More Marauders = More fun.
A special thanks to my two great kids. As I was staged at the line for all my races, I could hear them cheering me on. DefyantWife took interest in all this.... perhaps she may produce that can of whoop a$$ after all...;)
