Before I start off, I don't approve of street racing, I think it's wrong and this is something that 99% of the time I do not do. I was a street light, right, these two girls around 16 or 17 were in a red Focus Zx3. I don't know what they were thinking frankly. They were pretty cute but they were starring at me like I was some kind of jackass or something. She kept acting like she wanted to race me. So I was just going to play with her a bit to have some fun. As the light kept getting closer to changing green, she kept rolling foward, I stayed put where I was, I did not rev the engine once. By the time the left turn signal turned red she had already rolled half a car length past the white line. As soon as it turned green I gave her a 10th of a second head start
I floored it, wheels spinning, tires screeching, I ran past her like she was some kind of crippled child trying to run the special olympics j/k. (No offense to thoose who are special). Now, I didn't do anything crazzy like go to 100 I just let it level off at 60, the road is 50 mph speed limit. So I get to the next light and it is red, there's this guy in a Acura TL or a TSX. Not sure, which one, they both look the same to me. He had some kind of look in his eye. He was a bit of a nerdy guy, pollo shirt, buzz cut with eye glasses, you know the guy. The kind of guy who travels with the IT deparment to take a coffe break at Starbucks to get their favorite cappachino.
So we both start off slow, next thing I know, we are matching speed, he goes for it, I go for it, I'm looking at my speedo meter, we are both pretty even in distance. He was about a car length ahead of me and we started doing 70 and I'm thinking to myself "screw this I'm not getting my car towed away by the cops" so I backed off a bit. He was doing about 80-85 and flew past me. So we both end up at the next light and it is red. He gets the in the middle lane and there's no one ahead of him but there's a guy in a newer Sentra in my lane, the left lane.
So he goes easy off the line, then floors it and as he shifts from 1st to 2nd, his wheels do a quick but loud burnout. I get into his lane and follow him swerving around a few other cars to get back into the left lane. I got very close to passing him a few times but it seems like every time I got close, he just hit it and sped up to 85-90. I don't know about you, but I have respect for my car and my life so I kept it to 70-75 tops while doing 60-65 most of the time. Either was, I was either close to or on his ass the whole time. Then we get up to the next light and that turns red. We are both the first ones at the light. I'm lined up on the left and he's still in the middle lane. I'm looking over him trying to read his face but his windows are up while mine are down and it was night so I couldn't see his face well enough to read him.
I decided not to hit it and slowly build up speed. He didn't either and drove right along side of my car. It got to a point where it became a stand off and we both floored it. My car was in low 2nd so he had the gearing advantage so he was able to get up there a bit faster than me but I quickly started to catch up. Once again, I started hitting 70-75 and I didn't want to go any faster than that. Next thing I know he's pulling over to get on the left lane to go on I75 southbound and comes to a stop but I decided "screw it" and didn't take his invitation. It's not that I don't have respect for him and his car I just wanted to call it a night. After thinking about it, if it had been a fair race, at a real strip, I probably would of taken him without too much trouble. Call me a bit of a wuss or what you want but I didn't want to push too hard and attract a cop. So ends my story.
