I need to replace the passenger side O2 sensor. The bung on the aftermarket Xpipe stripped when I was putting the sensor in. :( Talk about cheap metal. Getting the bung replaced at an exhaust shop today. But the sensor threads are all filled with metal and I can't get it out.
My question... do the O2 sensors need to be replace as pairs or can they be replaced individuall. This the primary (front) sensor on the passenger side.
Re-tap the bung, do not replace it. Youre wasting money, IMHO.
Yes they can be replaced individually

If it can't be tapped, have them replace it. Also have the shop use anti-seize compound on the threads of the new sensor. In fact, put the compound on both sensors.

Try chasing the treads on the 02 with a die. It will clean out the threads and may save you some $.

I took a LOT of material out of that bung... so replacement I think is the only option.
I will do the anti-seize on the two that I have yet to put into the exhaust. I'm going to leave the other two alone !:)
This whole operation has been a thankless chore...
Talk about tight confines removing the manifolds... looks like I will even have to loosten the motor mount ( assume the bolt that goes through the alum cross member) and raise the driver's side of the engine. Can't get the driver's side manifold onto the studs because of clearance issues with the steering column. Got the stock one out... but the Cobra going lacks just a "taste" of being there.
Thanks for both replies.. Zack... Roy !

Well...
I stand corrected....
They bung could be tapped... a friend that runs a little auto repair business and does some custom exhaust work... hooked me right up. Only guy in town that had the O2 bung... but he said that problem happens all the time.. and he just used a tap and hooked me right up.
So I'm only out the damn O2 sensor.. but they it isn't as bad as it seemed.
Now I need to see if I can wedge the manifolds on the car.
Thanks all !

:D Cruz... not sure that matters. My exhaust guy says the bungs strip out frequently... that is why he keeps a big supply of them. I'm just happy that I'm over that hump.
Got any idea how to loosten the motormount. Is it the bolt that sticks down through the aluminum cross member that I can see from below the car. I need to get that "taste" I spoke of to get the driver's side manifold on. The passenger side required I loosten but so far not remove the A/C pump. The OEM manifold came out... now I will see if it is loose enough for me to get the new manifold back in.
