I just got home from Detroit...

Everything was going just fine. Opened the garage door, folded the mirrors in (Pain, but Okay...), drove the truck in...

Get out of the truck, dum dee dum... Walk around to go inside...

Notice butt-end of the truck is still outside the damn garage...

Ruh roh... :bigcry:

Walk around front of truck... Uh... Ruh roh. :bigcry:

GOD DAMN TRUCK DOESN'T FIT IN MY GARAGE... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Well... Not entirely true. It will if I remove some of the 3ft lip at the head of the garage... Now all I have to do is find a concrete cutter...

Sigh... It's a rough life. :bandit:

No problem, I'll just bring my '02 Short bed F-150 Sport 4x4 down and we can swap. It'll fit in your garage very nicely. It looks just like your old Lightning, only it's got a 5sp. (Just put a new set of Bridgestone Dualer Riva's on it, and will throw 'em in with the deal. :D

I wanted an extended cab truck and the only two (Ford/Chevy/GMC/Dodge)that would fit in the garage were the Ford with the 5' box and the Dodge Quadcab with a 6' box. I think most garages around here are 19'6" deep. Didnt like the Ford and went with the Dodge. I have to basically tap the sheetrock at one end (I hung a "warning" tennis ball) and the rear bumper clears by about an inch, maybe two. Tight fit with my other two cars..

Thats the only way I could get my truck to fit (without taking a couple tries pulling it in forward. If I was off a little the door wouldnt close...)

I had a new body style 2004 F150 crew cab 4x4 lariat. Backing it in worked like a champ. Just watched the reverse lights in the mirror till the reflection on the wall looked a certain way. Parked 6 inches away from the wall every time.

Curiously, my first thought when the truck wouldn't fit, was... "Damn, now I have to buy a new house..."

That Tallboy is brilliant. After many crazy ass conflagurations, the truck is now in the garage with .5 inch in the rear to spare and 1.5 inches between the truck and the garage door.

Good thing the truck isn't going to be the daily driver...

What's the problem, boss? Not enough smoke and mirrors?

I had your problem myself not long ago, but I spent some coins on some smoke, and got this...

Y'all know how much room a Marauder needs to live a fulfilled life, and this won't cut it. But, no sweat here 'cause I spent some more coins on mirrors too, and got this...

LOL..."Old" is it? I can still out drive you, my friend. Around here, I'm called a "driver". If there is something to move and it has wheels, they "call a driver." Me.

I'll have you know that I've been twisting Panther frames since before they had that name. I got my first Ford police car back in '80, my last Ford police car is parked just a few feet away right now, but outside. Gimme something to drive, and we can have some fun.

But, yeah.

I am old.

No problems.

I had my fun running bad guys into the ground...

Doesn't seem that easy anymore, bro...Watch your back, eh?

Did you try backing it it? I don't know what truck you have but sometimes the "overhang" is longer in the back... and you can get more truck over the front lip by backing in.

----oooops now I've read the whole thread and see that Tallboy already mentioned backing it in.....

Logan,

My moms garage was just barely big enough for her car and was always worried she would hit the wall so I parked her car inside and then hung a string from the ceiling with a small weight at the bottom. I lined it up so when she pulls in and the weight taps her windshield she knows she is in far enough and to stop. No more trying to judge distance or do a walk around and then get back in to correct yourself.

You might want to do this so you can back in without your blood pressure rising.

I have seen a tennis ball used at the end of a string, less dings on the windshield.

I use a dealiebob that lights up like a traffic light (green then yellow then red) as I approach the wall. I think its called "Park Zone" or some such.

Reminds me of my younger days doing punch out work for a builder (putting switch plates on, doing paint touch-ups etc...) and this retired Air Force Colonel buys a house from the company and I'm there doing the final walkthru when he comes blasting in yelling at my brother (who was the division manager of the homebuilding company). Seems that the guy has an early 70's Caddy, and it's a full 2' longer than the garage.

To appease him, they built an extension on the garage for his beloved baby blue caddy with it's white leather interior. It only came up about 4' and had it's own little roof on it.

This guy was so anal, when he did his walkthrough, he requested that all screw heads be perfectly horizontal. I thought he was joking and suggested that they be vertical so they didn't collect dust. He agreed and requested that instead.
