View Full Version : MercuryMarauder.net Shutting Down. - April Fools Day!

Logan

It's with a heavy heart that I have to announce that mercurymarauder.net will be shutting down at the end of the week.

I've become way too busy and have no interest in operating the site anymore. Plus, the Marauder really isn't all that cool a vehicle anyway. I mean, really... a four-door muscle sedan? Puuuuh-leeeeeeeeeeease...

Thanks and good-bye...

Finally he has come to his senses........
Anyone want my 300A with 3200 miles ?
I am tired of this machine as well. It was ok at first but this site showed me the futility of it all. CYA

Actually I think it is "more with a heavy foot than heart " Logan.

Good One...

Now what will happen:

LML will go back to his "study-group" and start a new site for enthusiats of block-long Town Cars while still trying to get to "secondbase" with the GF in the back seat...

Sarge will finally write that novel that's pent up inside him...

Wolfe will lay down for weeks...

Marty and mensrea will take a monumental Warranty issue all the way to the Supreme Court...

Marauderman will get his car back, but they will have put a 4 cyl engine in it...

RC will finally admit he's Sheriff....

Fourth Horseman will STILL be the only Marauder in Salt Lake...

Long Live#3 will have to start posting on www.nascar.com....

And RF....well RF will just have to go back to watching cable porn all day to "check out the picture clarity"

Well good, Logan !
I've become way to addicted to this site anyway. I spent to much time on it. My employer has threatened to fire me, if I don't lay off.

By the way, a local L/M dealer is selling the MM now for under $25k !!! I guess no one really wants them.

I enjoyed the time we had !!! Good luck with your future endeavors.

Well, Logan's message served as a real wake-up call for me, and just in time. I was considering selling the '98 Civic EX 4door now that's I've got the '03 MM, but what a HUGE mistake that would have been.

I've changed my mind completely, thanks Logan! I'm gonna be putting the '03 MM on the market soon, I hope to get a fair amount of my cost back from the sale. I'm keeping the Civic. The MM is really not the car for me, and the Civic is really what I've lusted for, all these years (the '98 was my 4th Civic ever, after all...)

Having said that, my three T/As will also go up for sale soon. Once my garage is clear, I'll be perusing the papers looking for a great deal on an old '84 or '85 Civic 4 door to go with my '98 4 door Civic. It will be a long-term restoration project, but I'm hoping the drivetrain will be in good shape and with originality intact (which is what the Civic market is REALLY focusing on, lately).

With the project '84/'85 in the garage, I'll be needing a daily driver since I've decided the '98 4 door Civic will become my summer-only vehicle. I was thinking a late 80's Civic hatchback... since I'm a safety freak, I'm thinking the empty space behind the rear seats will serve as a great buffer zone in a crash.

While we're at it, if I can scrape up some cash, I'll need a high-performance machine to go beating up on others at the local drag strip and road course... I'm sure a mid 80's CRX will do just fine.

That should do it:
'98 Civic 4 door (garage queen)
'84/'85 Civic 4 door (project car)
~'89 Civic hatchback (daily driver)
'86 CRX (track b*tch)

How's that sound? Much better than all those horrible gas-sucking V8s, no?

I can honestly tell you those commercials about appreciating every breath you take are NOT exaggerations. :(

As for polluters and V8s... hey, the LS1 is considered a low-emissions engine. I believe the 4.6l DOHC benefits from this classification as well. My 87's TPI engine... well, I dunno, but it still has all the emissions stuff on it along with a replacement cat in 1997. And the '78... well, the '78 makes up for all of them! Bring on the EPA!!! :flamer:

Hey Paul, don't even think of apologizing, man... I knew it was all in good humor, so let's not sweat it. My reply wasn't meant to be retaliatory, I'm sorry if you took it that way. It was more of a general announcement of how I think too many take breathing for granted.

Public-service announcement: for those of you who smoke, do consider quitting. It's tough, but my dad managed to after 45+ years of heavy smoking. He's never looked better. The human body is a wonderful machine, just like the MM... would you consider running your cars for years in a sandy environment without a filter? Or feed it no-name low-octane gas with a dirty fuel filter?

What's odd is that my co-workers have become some what interested (over the last few days on the road together) in the MM site. As I frequently share some posts with them, and of all people, THEY reminded me of the date, and convinced me to edit my original post, saying....from what they could gather from what little exposure they had with this site....Logan would NOT pitch in the towel that quickly.

I fell for it, as I was likely one of the first to read and reply to the post..........thank god..........I won't EVEN share what they did to me later that afternoon while mining cables in the Farmers Branch (Texas) SBC telephone central office. After the fiasco two weeks ago in Cleveland, this was NOT funny. However....Logans trick actually hit home harder than taking out 60,000 t-1 carrier lines.

I need to work on my priorities list.......:P
