Weather is be good or bad. Does your Marauder have a soul? Do you "feel" there is more to the car then just cleverly assembled bits and piece?

Where does this come from? I am watching Stephen Kings, "Christine". A classic!

I believe its soul is obtained directly from the soul behind the wheel. -or- should I say the sole on the go pedal :D

For sure my 1st Marauder has a soul. No doubt about it, it is possessed. Been actually looking for a priest that would agree to exorcise the little b*stard for me, as demonic possession is not covered under Ford's factory warranty. Alas, no luck...

Hopefully my second one will be soul-less, or at least be blessed with the soul of some lobotomized opinion-less minion that is perfectly okay with just doing what I tell it to, like a good car should.

My Marauder definitely has Soul, when I'm driving her, it's like I'm connected as one.
I know what she can do, and wants, she knows what I can provide, and when. Don't even have to ask, it's all there just waiting for the right moment to show herself. :burnout:

Definitely Has Soul !

Mine has a soul and she is definately pissed off. He was not treated right in the past, and had a heart attack. When I first got her back she was still pretty pissed, pulled back timing and stalled on me... we had a talk and took a trip together. almost 180 miles into our time together we got run off the road, she didn't stall after going off road, dispite pulling timming easily on night one. On mile 370 or so now and she is definately more behaved and with that though alot more eager to run hard. After the 500 mile change I'll run her a little more like she wants. After the 1000 change I'm gonna have her tuned and then we'll be able to get all that agression out. Some might wanna say it's the EEC learning and so fourth... perhaps but I doubt that's all of it. I think we'll be good friends after all.

I think a Marauder has no soul until she is purchased....then it acts like "learning system" when an owner takes delivery. based on the owners drivung and such, it developes a personality. Make sense?

Well, not a SOUL exactly...I've always believe that machines are a little like animals: they know if you're afraid of them, and they know if you like them.

It's only human to think this way, but, sadly, cars are just soulless machines.

Hmmm, Not to get too deep into this, but there are various degrees of love. Love between man and woman, parent and child, friends, and finally, things.

You can love your house, car computer, camera ,etc or hate it.

Besides, when I step on the go peddle, my car sings a symphony to me :D . I love it.

The poll is no good.

The question is "does it have A soul?" but then the poll choice is "It has soul.

There is too much left open to interpretation.

Does it have "soul?" Yes, in the slang sense of the term soul.

Does it have A soul? No, only living things can have A soul.

:)

Best,

Dan

Never love something that can't love you back.

This is an awesome quote, short and to the point.

My dad always tried to drill the following into my head: "Cars are meant to be slaves to human beings, not vice versa." He was no doubt concerned over the obsession I was displaying over Trans Ams and cars in general. He is right, however... while it is a VERY fun hobby, it does not (and should not) take the place of real human beings who'll care about you.

Thinking about it, human beings are a masochistic lot. Throughout history we constantly fight against slavery and oppression, and then the moment we find ourselves free we immediately seek out new opportunities to subjugate ourselves to someone or something.

(says the guy with about 1350 hp and 40 cylinders strewn about his property... )

I dunno, Dan... put a hockey goalie's mask over my car and call it Jason, and you'd have the makings of a cult movie.

I absolutely love the movie Christine and could probably recite most of the movie line for line

As for a Soul? eh not really, I think of my Marauder more as a modern marvel, A well oiled Machine that stands apart from the average car on the road.

before the tune it had a soul. Downshifting at random on highway at a constant pressure of pedal and the 7.5 gallons low fuel light gremlins.

I know my Silver Birch has soul. Ever since turning 5K miles it has been awakened and accelerates like a bat out of hell :burnout:

"Look, I don't want any toast, and he doesn't want any toast. In fact, no one around here wants any toast. Not now, not ever. No toast!"
"How 'bout a muffin?"
"Or muffins! Or muffins! We don't like muffins around here! We want no muffins, no toast, noteacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and definitely no smegging flapjacks!"
"Aah, so you're a waffle man!"
- Lister and Talkie Toaster"He's defective. He wants everyone to eat toast all of the time. And if you don't want to eat something like 400 rounds of toast every HOUR, he throws a major wobbler. That's what caused the accident in the first place. "
"What accident? "
"The accident involving me, the toaster, the waste disposal and a 14 pound lump-hammer. "

This is my first post here so first off, HELLO! I was reading this post and had to respond. I thought I was the only crazy person that thought my car had a "soul". lol I have long thought that your car can tell if you respect it or even like it. Think of the people that hate Ford products, yet buy one because it was a "good deal" they are usually the ones that have the most problems. I on the other hand, love Ford products and of the 11 that I have owned they have all treated me VERY well. I have never been stranded by one, never had one fail to start, or had any major problems. Have I just been lucky? Possibly, but I tend to think it is more than that, my cars know that I respect them and maintain them the best that I can, and therefore they respect me. When I drive my Grand Marquis I do feel some sort of strange connection to it that I do not feel when I drive my fiance's Acura. Mayby because it is her car, or mayby it is just soulless, or mayby we are all crazy. who knows, but I do love my car, not in the way that I love my family and friends, but I do love it!!

Yes, my MM has a soul!
Just as I am a work of chemical and biological "nuts and bolts" with a soul, so is my MM.
It is a work of art and if you look and listen just right it will convey a sense of the human condition. :beatnik:
