Mine had 57 miles on it. The saleman told me that everyone at the dealer had taken it for a ride  . So far so good though I haven't had any problem except the rattle in the rear speaker panel.

We test-drove ours the same day it arrived on the truck...it was filthy and still had all the plastic on the seats and dash...drove it about 17 miles or so, IIRC...we discussed it that night, called them the next day, picked it up the following day. I think it had 23 miles on it when we took delivery...

76 miles sounds like a lot of test drives, though...

Got mine shortly after getting off the truck, too. That was a pretty fun experience, getting to see your new car before it's been cleaned and inspected. They look pretty rough right off the truck. :)

Mine had 19 km on it when I first saw it on the showroom floor last week... that's about 10 miles.

75 miles is probably a result of a few test drives. The unit I was initially considering but dropped due to paint issues had about 65 miles on it, from test drives. May sound like a lot, but I took mine out for a test drive before buying it and put on 15 miles within 15 minutes or so... all it took was a drive around the neighborhood, a blast down the highway, and back again. Add to that a few more miles from getting to the shop that installed the remote starter on mine, and I can understand where 2 or 3 more test drives on my car would have put it at the 75 mile mark by the time I picked it up.

Now, if you ordered the car from the factory and not off showroom stock, then we've got a curious issue.

One more thing to remember: sometimes the factory DOES pull a car at random and test the crap out of it, as part of quality control. My WS6 got this treatment at my request (I was at the factory during its construction).

When I test drove my car it had 2 miles at the start and 6 miles after. On delivery it had 12. The 6 additional miles were from the service center to the showroom . John

Mine had 65 or so when we saw it. It came in on Friday and we picked it up on Saturday. They mentioned it was a show car (whatever that means). I guess every salesperson and the dealer drove it. But it was the first one in town and it was only there a day before we took it home.

I'm not sure where you're based, but it could have been used in a major new car show. All those cars in those international auto shows in the big cities are all dealer stock, some of them are even already sold, and they'll cut a small deal with the new owners to let them use it in the show (this applies mostly to rare car models).

Mine had 34 mile on it...Mine was ordered from the factory, and they actually told me the build date in advance when I ordered it. Since I had put a deposit on it, it was mine when it was offloaded from the car hauler. I picked it up the next day, so I know the miles weren't from test drives, especially when they had a test drive demo Marauder. The salesman explained the testing done at random at the factory and that when that occurs they place a sticker on the rear window by the price sticker. The engineer will put down how many test miles put on the car and initial it, unfortunately they get removed when you prep the car for the new owner. I was curious about that for a while, but actually was told by someone at ford that its actually good to get a car that they tested out before shipping out, in case of any problems they might find. I wonder if they keep records at St. Thomas of the cars they test in this fashion so we know for sure? Who is going there this summer? Maybe someone can ask? Just a thought....

Mine had 459 freakin' miles on it! Can it still be considered a new car?
Paid full sticker price. Damn impulse buys. At least the dealer threw in a "Rust-proofing" (Armor-all). Supposedly a $1000 price tag.

The dealer said, that they got on a trade from a dealer in Minneapolis. Which is about a 250-300 miles trip.

Then add test drives and demo's.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. I wanted that car and I enjoy driving it a lot.

I can happily add my number, now that I own a MM! Did the paperwork yesterday and will take delivery Fri. or Sat. as the dealer wanted to get some minor scratches/rub marks buffed out. He got it from a dealer in GA. It had 266 miles on it when I took it out for the in depth inspection ride, 292 when I got back! I haven't figured the mileage between dealers yet, but it is in the 250 mile range. Can't wait to get it! It is a black/dk. charcoal 300B built 12/02.

Mine had 2 miles on it when I first but my butt in the seat. Had 27 when I brought it back and said it's mine. Had 28 miles when I picked it up. There were others on the lot with more, including the demo at 4600 miles. The sales manager also drove this one on a regular basis.

I'm in Los Angeles--and, to my surprise, no local Mercury dealers had any Marauders at all when I was ready to buy (mid-March 2003)! I called L.A.'s largest dealer, and when I inquired about their Marauder stock, the salesperson said, "They stopped making the Maruader in January 2003; could I interest you in another vehicle?" I said, "Goodbye."

So I found a dealer about 60 miles away that had three in stock (mid-March 2003). One had 70+ miles (300A), the second had 40+ miles (300B), and the one I bought had a little over 4 miles (300B). Although mine had "just come off the truck" I suspect it may have been a dealer trade or showroom model due to a number of scratches I later discovered around the hood and driver's door.

Sometimes the factory does pull a car at random for quality control testing.
If this has happened, there will be a small window sticker on the car stating that fact, and the miles put on it before being shipped.

Oh, also, If a dealership does an honest PDI, with a road test as they are supposed to, that could add 10 miles or so to the OD

Mine had less than 1 when I signed the paper, 3.7 when I picked it up. I didn't even test drive it. The difference was a trip to the gas station to fill the tank, part of the dealers "nice people to do business with" schpeal. Also got a check from the dealer for $700 as a mileage rebate. Called him and he said that was standard practice if they sell a car with over 3 miles on it.

Mine had 260 km on it when I test drove it (what's that in miles? I have no clue). Anyway, turns out the dealership sent a guy from Windsor up to St. Thomas to drive it back. He couldn't get it on a truck. He knocked $2000 Cdn off the sticker and amended the warranty to start at 260 km.
I thought he was doing me a favour until I realized that they are having a hard time moving them and other dealers were dropping the price anyway.

mine had 88 miles on it but that includes the 25 miles they had to drive to deliver it to my house. i assume there were some test drive miles on it as well but i hope not too many, the dealer tells people to really "PUNCH IT" when they drive it . its cool when its not your car:), but then after you buy it you regret the driving you did during the test drive:(. hehe oh well

Cooper,

No apologies necessary. You're more than welcome here as far as I and a lot here are concerned.

Even though you don't keep very good company (RF)

Anyway, Tbore was just looking for what everyone else had mileage wise on a new car...he's concerned about his 70+ miles. Your response is relevent, as well.

Now go find some new friends...hangin out with (you know who) is bad for your reputation

Mine was shipped to a Ford Company (not a dealer) site direct from the factory. Had 6 miles on the odometer when I picked it up, but as someone mentioned earlier, they do statistical quality control sampling, including some longer mileage rides around the factory.

40 miles, had it trailered to me from dealer about 300 miles!

Makes me a bit wary at this point.

A dealer in town has 3 300As. All have well over 350 miles. One has 1200!?!?

I did see a 300A at another dealer that had 250 miles on it. Upon closer inspection of the window sticker, I saw that it had been delivered to a dealer in a neighboring state. It was obviously a dealer trade or something and had been driven to this dealer. Oh yeah...it had been marked down to a blowout price of $32,500

Had 39 miles. My dealer did a search and located the car at another dealer which was about 30-something miles away, so almost all of the miles were from the transfer drive. Picky, picky, I had to have those heated seats (but really didn't care about the cd changer that came along for the ride).
