I know this a long shot but...
I drove an Expedition as a rental over Thanksgiving, and noticed it had a two position seat memory.
So, my question is it possible to modify my Marauder with this option?
Do CVs or GMs have this option?
I have put up with my 5'3" wife's habit of driving 2 inches away from the steering wheel for 28 years. Every time I bang my knee getting into the car I think foul thoughts...
Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Not sure if CV/GM came with that option, but I'm pretty sure the Town Car did.

That is a great feature for multi-driver cars.

Our 6 year old BMW has it... not something that would tempt me into buying the car, but certainly a feature that would make you want to buy another.

Hello Ford? Give us goodies (instead of taking them away alah 300A -> 300B) and we'll keep coming back for more!

I'd love to know how to add it to the Marauder, but I doubt it's gonna be plug & play....

I know exactly what you mean. It has taken a very long time to train my wife to run the seat back to its "approximate" position. She now remembers about 4 out of 5 times. :D Personally, I consider that success !! ;)

Even so, it still takes me a while to get the seat back to the position where it was best for me. That doesn't even consider readjusting the mirrors and such. A "one touch" button would be nice. Until then .... I just let it ride.

If the Towncar does have it, then you have a fighting chance that you can add it. My uncle works for Yazaki. They're one of the largest electronics OE suppliers. Anyway, if I understood him correctly, the memory option is a seperate module that simply plugs into the keyless entry module. If one model of a particular model line has it, it can be added to the other vehicles. He told me I could add it to my Explorer since the Aviator has it. So, I assume the same is true for other vehicles.

I suggest finding out whether you can buy the module and for how much. If its not too expensive (I don't think it won't be), then buy it and try it. Check the service manual first to make sure it just plugs in. Do it at your own expense/risk though.

Guys the Crown Vic has it, I own a '95 with memory seats stores 3 different positions, if anyone can figure out what is involved to upgrade the MM. I would be interested.

The '95 has it but what about the '03-'05 ? It could have been decontented from the CV/GM altogether, sort of like the headlight autodim feature.

Yeah, that's the one thing I wish the Marauder had. While I am dreaming, can we add positional memory for the rearview and sideview mirrors too? :)

glad I have 2 cars and I'm the only driver of both :) Memory seats would be nice cause of service trips and car wash places who have those 4'9 or 6'9 people who move my seat to impossible positions. Does that also work for the pedals?

Oh heck I forgot about the adjustable pedals. Add them to my list.

Y'know, she says it's just like hers... except it's louder. Hope she keeps it light on the skinny pedal.

That was the only way to get the Marauder!
It's "her" car!
(She doesn't know a thing about the xcal tune Dennis recently installed...hmmm...wonder if she'd notice a supercharger...)

My two 98 Continentals had it and my (my wife's) present 02 Continental has it. However it was an "extra cost option" on those Continentals. Part of the "Driver Select System".

Easy to identify the 98-02 (and perhaps the 95-97) with the Driver Select System. Look at the buttons on the right side of your steering wheel. If the Continental steering wheel buttons look exactly the same as your Marauder steering wheel buttons, with the same number of buttons, then yes, it has the Driver Select System. If it has fewer buttons, no it does not have the DSS. Also one dashboard button is different. If there is a dash button that says E/M (English/Metric), it does not have the DSS.

When we looked for our final edition 02 Continental (used) we looked for one with the DSS, Moonroof, and Center Consul (sp) shifter (five passenger).

If you got a TUNE, installed it and think your wife doesn't know the difference,
then you, my friend, have wasted your money.

The day I installed Lidio's tune into my Marauder, my wife asked me,
"What have you done now ?"
I asked her what was different.
She said "The Marauder pulls like a dog, wet with gas, and his owner is chasing him with a lit match !!!

My wife's name around our house is "Captain Oblivious"
Don't forget she's the one that drives it two inches away from the steering wheel...

The 300m has it as well...... depending on which key you use to open it has automatic seat memory and radio station memory as well!! there has got to be a way to put that sort of upgrade in the MM (my wife is way shorter than i am and she has horrible taste in music)

It's a cool feature. I have it, and it can be programmed to do the adjustment on unlock by keyfob, or at key in. I can't figure why anybody would want it at key in (after you've jammed yourself into the seat), so mine's programed to do the ajustment at keyfob unlock. Each fob has a number (1 or 2) and when you use it and start the truck, it displays "Driver 1" or "Driver 2) on the DIC. It's cool, it sets the seat position, side mirrors, and station presets. Last time I used Driver 2 keyfob I forgot about the memory settings and like an idiot, kept wondering who the frig had reset my station presets.

I've got the memory seats on my 2004 Mountaineer and I have had nothing but trouble with it, it is broken once again, but I also filed a lemon law suit with the attorney this morning so Mercury will have to buy that piece of ***** back. I would say that adding them onto the Marauder would not be possible becuase I know that on my Mountaineer it is connected with the computer so it can retain the settings.

Here's my post from awhile ago on a similar thread:

This modification isn't as bad as you might think. If you can get ahold of an older style memory seat module, like out of a Mark VIII or similar, it is a somewhat independant unit, only needs to interface with the keyFOB receiver. Newer systems are all integrated into a smartJB or GEM module and require multiplexed controls.

How these systems work is that there are potentiometers (variable resistors) mounted to the seats and to the mirrors. There will be sensor wires that must be routed back to the memory seat module, and wires that go directly from the memory seat module to the mirrors and seat. I would expect you would need to do the following:

Obtain a memory seat module and keyFOB receiver that work together. Get rid of the current keyFOB receiver and replace it with the new one (it will still have a lock/unlock output that is appropriate for the door locks).

Retrofit seats with sensors, it would probably be easier to buy seats that have the sensors in it and change the mountings to fit the Marauder floor. Towncar seats may come close, a good upolstry shop can try to redo the seats with similar leather to the Marauder and make them fit between the B-pillar and console. Make sure the module has the same sensor inputs as the seats have (i.e., if you have a Mark VIII module, get a Mark VIII seat.)

Retrofit the mirror electric glass actuators with ones from the towncar. You'll need to run all 8 wires new from each actuator through the door to the memory seat module. The plastic case that holds the mirror will need to be glued/bonded to the new actuator since it will not mount the same.

Retrofit the mirror actuator switch with one from the memory system since the inputs now goto the memory seat module and not to the mirrors directly. These switches generally are very similar and should mount OK in the door panel.

Install a memory switch somewhere, its a three button switch that wires directly to the memory seat module.

The memory seat module will need 20amp power and ground for when it runs the seats and mirrors simultaneously, and then just hook it up to both mirrors (16 wires) and both seats (8 to 12 wires) and both switches (9 wires) and the replaced keyFOB receiver (2 wires).

I know of a mock-up shop in Detroit area that would quote around $7,000 for this change depending on how fancy you wanted to get with reupolstering the seats.

Don't forget, there are also memory pedal positions and memory radio presets if you also want to change those systems.

I don't know about younz but switching this and switching that, run a wire here and run a wire there, and a estimated cost of 7K for someone else to do it. I think I can use the remote finger option. But that's just me and besides me and my wife use the same seat position.

Coming from somebody who just spent a weekend swapping out the innards of the seat (seat base broke) I doubt that it'd be worth it. I'd buy my wife her own MM. LOL I know that's not a real option, but I have to put the seat back when I get in the Expedition she drives, so it's really just something I have to do - and not much of an annoyance.

Actually the second Marauder is in the plans for late 05 or early 06...as soon as the '03s get down to around 12k for a high mileage unit...guess I'll just save my 7k for memory seats til then...thanks for the responses though.
