Another MM owner and I have experienced the wearing off of the black veneer on our jackets on the inside collar area and the elbows.

Since a new batch of jackets was released in the Sept thru Nov 05 time frame we are wondering if any other owners may have experienced the same or similiar problem. The wear is manifested in as little as a couple of hours of use.

Respond if applicable and when you received your jacket.

Thanks

Yep, mine is badly worn at amny of the seams too. Inside lining seam came apart months and months ago.

The Jacket label says " Made in China"
It's just not right to give away a made in china jacket with an 'American made car' just my opion.

Rod.

'American made car'

The Marauder is Canadian made, FYI.

Mine is wearing just fine! Had it since August of 02. I use it regularly (or as regularly as one uses a jacket in Southern California).

O.K. our cars were made in North America.

You guys actually wear your jackets? Mine just sits in its bag. Maybe I should try it out. Got mine in October 2004...

My jacket is wearing just fine. No problems at all. Mostly wear it in the spring and early fall. Bought the MM in early October 2003. Got the jacket just before Thanksgiving 2003. :D

I've been wearing my jacket since the summer of 2002, and it see more use around Chicago that other parts of the country. Yep, it's wearing, and all over too. It's wearing just about as much as the driver's seat, which is starting to show it's age too.

Two ways to view this, and I like having a seasoned driver's seat, and a seasoned jacket, but I can stop my wrinkles, or, fading.

I've got a second jacket boxed up, maybe I should get a second skin for the seat?

But, wouldn't that look a little odd a few years down the road? Like trying to hide the gray hair?

Nope, rather be me...

Well I have noticed a little wear at the creases in the leather. I had been using leather conditioner from my dad's detail shop on it for a while. It doesn't really do much to help fix what wear is showing though.

Tonight I had a brainfart because my roommate had been using my soccer shoe leather food on his leather jacket and told me about it. Then I realized I bought this stuff from a motorcycle leather shop because it was cheaper than from my Eurosport soccer catalog. BTW- it works good on 5-yr-old, crusty soccer boots too.

I bought mine from AeroStich.com (http://www.aerostich.com/product.php?productid=16479) for 8 bucks.
The clear is nice but the black has dye in it to redye any wear on leather. It soaks in like the cow needed it in the 1st place.

I'd let it sit a day or so just to make sure any excess doesn't rub off. It's Chelsea Leather Food from England. They know how to make good stuff. Plus you get a good biker catalog if you order from them.

I like the ads description to. Anything with a British vernacular sounds convincing:
"Right then, this is Proper Boot Dubbin from England, where they know a thing or two about preserving leather in the face of damp weather and dank conditions. Consisting of all natural waxes and oils, this product is aptly labeled 'food' as it replaces the waxes and oils found in leather that are depleted by the tanning process itself, as well as by general wear and climate. In production for over 100 years, it was used by Sir Edmund Hilary on all his Everest assaults. We know it works quite well on riding boots. The black is especially beneficial as it fills chips and cracks on black leather. Specify Black or natural"

Mine wore beautifully, and still is. Got it in Nov 04. Only damage is from the talons of a hawk I didn't glove well enough for, and even those look reasonably repairable. All is good from my view.
