Where can I buy a K&N Air Filter for my "Black Beauty"? What is the part K&N #? Thanks, guys.

Went to Autozone and O'reily parts stores in Mesquite, TX. for part, they neither had or knew part # to order.

Any auto parts store can order the filter for you. Some performance shops carry them in stock. The part number is 33-2012.

It's in there. It's getting people to look there that's the trick.

According to the K&N web site, the correct filter part number is HP-2010.

You looked up a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis. The air boxes are different.

Just double checked, their site lists the same filter for both! That ain't right, should have knew better than to doubt any mod info on this site, especially from LML

K&N part number HP-2010 is an OIL FILTER, per K&N web site.

On a related thread, K&N air filter for 1989 Crown Vic was used by one of the "faithful". I'm gonna try it.

Ahh... He's right! However, the 2003 GM has that identical air filer number! Wonder why they'd use such closely related numbers for different 4.6L's?

OK, one, K&N DOES have an oil filter specific to the MM. However, the FAQ's purpose is to cut down on recurring threads asking the same questions that have been answered a month ago. We're a growing site... and everyone who joins won't catch up because they don't feel like it. I put the K&N part number in there because of reoccuring questions asked. Until K&N comes out with an actual filter for the car, that number stays. I will, however, put a disgression next to it, because your statement holds truth.

As far as the fact that it can mess up a MM's system, no... not when cared for properly. Will I go buy one? No... not without a cold air kit.

Also, as far as the MM having the freest flowing intake, I still say that's via the new throttle body and upper intake design, NOT the intake tube itself.

Macon M and MMMMMM2003, thanks for the links. Very helpful.

LML, the MM site is workin' just fine, and thanks for the info. Based on what you said, I am going to hold off buying another air filter for now.

Opinions are like %# everybody has one but I am convinced the K&N filter picked up the Marauder a little. You can feel it. I did mine before the chip. The chip made a big difference and I don't have the 4.10 gear. Use common sense on the re-oil. A drop will do, not a gallon.
