Well, my dad and I started detailing the car around 9am and finished just before 5pm (only the exterior, the interior is tomorrow). The process included:

1) Scrubbing with Dawn liquid detergent. Rinse.
2) Complete clay-job.
3) Zaino Z7 wash.
4) A second complete clay-job.
5) More Zaino Z7 wash.
6) Dry.
7) Zaino ZFX + Z5 wax.
8) Remove.
9) Zaino Z6 Gloss Enhancer spray-down.
10) Zaino Z2 High-optic polish.
11) Remove.
12) Second Zaino Z6 Gloss Enhancer spray-down
13) Zaino Z12 Glass polish.

Yes, a lot of Zaino and a lot of work. However, the results are PHENOMINAL! Wow. I've never detailed my car in this fashion before.

After we finished, I drove a couple blocks to the local park and snaped this beauty of a shot.

While playing with it in photoshop, I made this nice black and white version.

As you see, the end result is great. Albeit, I'm quite sore in places I never knew I could be sore in, I think it was well worth it!

uh....I'm speechless. Did you make sure to clean the frame and underbody too? Afterall the gas tank deserves wax too :)

You know in the my car is cleaner than your car wars, you've effectively just launched a full frontal assault, with tactical nukes! Lookingsharp Rick!

I would be afraid to drive it and get it dirty after all that time and work....Once it gets dirty, at least you have the picture to remind you of what it looked like when it was absolutly spotless.....

Your hard work has paid off well, the car is a show piece.

if it took (x) amount of time to do a silver birch

How long does it take to do a black one?

This is so true! The car is SO SLICK, if you set a bathtowel on the hood, it will slide right off, without wind or anything, only gravity! Even when dust settles, it seems to blow right off with a simple drive.

about the same,.. unless you pull the grill, wheels, intake box & tube, etc. That takes longer.

depends if you consider lint removal and the ocasional water spot from the puddle you couldn't avoid 5 minutes after waxing. Black is sexy when clean but hi maintnence to keep clean. After waxing I use the california car duster and it sometimes want to fly out my hand when propelled across the polished surface. :)

I have to disagree. The silver hides much more than the black, and it isn't that you wouldn't spend as much time on a silver verses a black - its because the silver won't show you everything and black shows you every little tiny detail you could not *easily* see with a metallic silver shining back in your eyes. Black cars, for me, usually take atleast 2 more hours. Try spending 12 hours on the paint of a black Excursion :loco:

She looks great Rick!

Thats what I was going to say. Except it would look perfect with an FSU plate on the front. Despite how crappy we've played lately, we managed to beat both UM and VT!!! And I was there to witness it last night!

Car looks great though!

Zaino Is the best, When ever you notice the polish start to loose its

shine and less water beading, just use some Z6 Gloss enhancer and

it will bring the polish back to life!!! Looks great, love silver!
