My ignorance has bubbled to the surface again. I'm in the process of tracking down the wiring for the high beam circuit under the hood after refering to the wiring diagrams and I can't find splice #138. I see it in the wiring diagrams and the Component Location Chart lists it as "Dash panel to headlamp junction near T/O to, C131." I see that connector #131 is the horn but can anyone who actually knows how to read a wiring diagram tell me what "T/O" stands for? I want to physically tear apart as little as possible trying to get to that splice so any help would be appreciated.:bandit:

Hey Ken,

Your best bet will be Carfixer or RoyLPita.

My guess is the harness that sprouts the headlamp connectors... it runs along the bar that spans horizontally across the front end of the car. The DRL module (or the dummy connector for non-DRL cars) sprouts off this horizontal harness. My guess is that the splice is around where the DRL harness emerges.

Steve - not that. What I'm doing is adding relay switches into the hi-beam and lo-beam circuits. For the hi-beam I need to graft in the relay right before that splice. If this makes a significant difference I'll let everyone know the particulars; if not, I'll just pretend it never happened.

This is something I am intending on doing to my '78 T/A at some point in the next 2 years. Supposedly it makes a HUGE difference on that car, but I don't know if modern lighting systems work the same way. In the case of our MM's, it's all courtesy of the lighting control module, and who knows WHAT they put in that box (ie. "relays" or whatever).

Nobody knows what "near T/O" means?

Nobody knows what "near T/O" means?

T/O means Take out. A take out is where wiring leaves the main wiring harness to go to a component.

The splice is listed as near T/O to connector C131. Cut the harness open near where the wiring for the horn comes out of the main harness.

Once again, carfixer to the rescue! :)

Thanks! That question's been bugging me as well!

10-4. Thanks for the reply. Now a whole bunch more of that component location chart in the wiring manual makes sense to me.
