I bought a set of stock springs from another member and cut 3/4 of a coil off and had them swapped. I also went to a 245/45 front tire. The tire dropped the car 1/4 " or so.

Nothing from the springs!!! WTF!!! The car looks silly with the extra gap in the wheel well. Would there be that much of a difference in another set of springs?

Can someone with stock tires and springs measure the wheel well height?

Can someone with a coil cut do the same?

TIA.

Should have left the stock tire on and cut a full coil.
I originally started out with 3/4 and was not pleased with the results.
I have since removed the other 1/4 coil.
Trust me though, the ride and handling is much better than the Eibachs, so dont kick yourself for not going that route.

Another thing I might add. The springs are sensitive to the position they are installed with the shock. Check to see if they were positioned correctly.

I don't care for the BFG's. I have noticed a better ride with the Falkien/Toyo combo and the cut spring.

I may have to go the QA1 route.

How can I check that? Just by taking the tire off?

I cut 1 full turn and my car did sit a bit lower. It was just where I wanted it.

so,

has someone measured the distance to the top inside fender lip yet?

I started with 28.5 and I am at 28.1.

245/40 front tires with 40 PSI, 1 full coil cut, OEM shocks = Driver side 28.25" center of lip to ground, passenger side 28.00".

You cut the coil from the top of the spring, right?

:) Yes, the wide end.

Thanks for the measurement!
Sounds like I am in the nighborhood. Maybe it will settle, but I can still fit a good ol'e 3 finger oz in the gap. :)

I did the 4 finger rule. I had a 4 finger gap before I sarted...now I have about 1.5. :D

With 3/4 coil cut, I have 27 1/2 inches vertical through the c/l of the godshead to the lip of the fender.

Measure down from center of your fender lip, in a line that passes through the center of your wheel cap. What ever wheel cap you have in place, this is the only way to take a ride height measurement consistent with the measurements we have collected since this car rolled off the assembly line.

Some fingers are fatter than other fingers, some are thinner, so, what does this give us, in measurement terms. Measuring to the center of the Godshead wheel cap doesn't define anything any better.

Bob Villa says "measure twice, cut once", so let's all measure from the same points of interest? This is the way we started measuring, change it now and you'll be two more years in making it all make sense on-line.

Welp, it looks like I have stumbled upon another mod I like the sound / look of.

Thanks again.
