That could be from the original Marauder prototype, which I believe the really really really original version was a souped up Crown Vic. That could explain the redline, especially if it had a different motor underhood.

What I don't get is how they got the speedo to read 30mph and the tach is at 0...must have one heck of an overdrive...

Anyway, I could be wrong, I did think there was a hot-rod CV prototype that was before the real Marauder concepts and may have been a regular but hoppped-up 2v 4.6l.

Then again on second thought I recall atleast one of those prototypes had a mustang gauge cluser shoved in the gauge pod there...but I think that was the running prototype for the Marauder that the magazines first saw...again I could be way off here.

That's odd - there is another prototype with non MM wheels and a slightly different look interior, that's what I expected that pic to be from.

This must sitll be a preproductoin model - look at the seats, no god-head on the seat-back.

just noticed no power seats either...last pict looks as if the compas was in rear view mirror. Glad there wasn't a base model MM.

The CVs with Mustang dash and gauges were the Boundurant builds.

WOW its funny to see what was predicted til the sales slumped

Quote from HOTROD:
" Another facelift is planned in 2006, and this rear-drive platform, including Marauder, is scheduled to remain in the lineup through the end of Ford’s long-range plans in 2010".

WRONG!!!! 2004, 2010, Hey whats 6 years???? :bs:

Another Quote:
"Black will be the only hue available for the first four months of production. Later, Dark Blue Pearl and Dark Shadow Grey will appear on the (limited) color palette. A rear spoiler will be a dealer-only option"

WRONG!! Shadow Grey, Silver Birch hey Same thing right??? :bs:

Yet Another HOTROD Quote:
"Think all this is cool? It’s just the beginning. Later in ’03 you will see a “feature car” program, probably called X-100, that will feature a variety of power and visual upgrades that may (or may not) include headers, an X-pipe exhaust, Baer brakes, Edelbrock valve covers, 3.73 gears spinning newly styled 19-inch wheels, a moonroof, and specific paint"

Well????? WHERE IS IT???? YOU GET NOTHING, YOU LOSE, GOOD DAY SIR! :bs:

Final Quote:
"And those production numbers? Well, the Marauder business case was based on selling 15,000 units"

WHOOPS!! 15,000 in one year and just under 12,000 over the course of 2 years is the same right???? :bs:

THANKS FORD!!!! A little money put into advertising about this vehicle and you could have had something that could be molded into a platform that could take on any performance sedan out there. But typical business as usual at Ford, They create something special and drop the ball. :shake:

..actually I believe this part is actually correct. All 300A's are black right? I'm not sure about the spoiler.

Y'all talk about seeing pics of different prototypes from different sources, but anyone wanna bet it's the same car, in different stages of build/rebuild? I don't. I've got a few sent to me from a Ford Engineer, everything correct but the rear Marauder bumper cover. Go figure.

With respect for Hot Rod's early sneak preview, many hopes and dreams of both L/M and HR (and us) were pre 9-11-01. If y'all can recall history, 2002 was a "depression" year for the automobile market.

Between the release of the Marauder for 35K in June 2002, and the retail market's rebates, discounts, zero percent financing and so on that followed that sales year, a brand new Marauder was available for under 27K in 2003.

Promises of color, moon roof, heated seats, and Traction Control could do nothing to draw customer's attention back to the Marauder, because other formerly "dream cars" were likewise discounted.

It was a race year. The dealers raced to move inventory, and buyers raced to get their best "dream car" deal ever. Hell, L/M could have announced a blown 5.4L engine, and a six speed tranny option, and the car would not have been any more popular than it was, IMHO.

Just my .02c, carry on.
