Went to Firebird Raceway last night and all I can say is I have never seen or experienced a more poorly run track in my life. First off before I even drove there I called first to verify they had unleaded race gas for sale. I get their at 8pm, go through tech and ask where do I buy race gas (my needle was on E) and they tell me “gee the guy hasn't been showing up to sell gas for awhile now” After some panic and investigating we find a track worker with some 5 gallon cans of race gas in the back of his pick up and luckily one of them was unleaded...but oops no funnel. I then have to go on my own to find a funnel from a racer.
Ok, now I get in line after wasting about ˝ an hour only to wait 45 minutes for them to clear an oil down on the track...45 MINUTES! But the best part is there were 3 oil downs, 1 coolant dump and 1 rear end breakage...but again its gets better...they do not have a wrecker to move cars off the track so even the guy that broke his rear on the starting line took ˝ to be moved off the track. It got so bad that they didn't bother trying to fix one of the lanes and started racing with just one lane. Also absolutely no rhyme or reason as to what cars in what lanes were allowed to go next so as usual my lane sat as I watched some cars take 3-4+ passes. End result, I was there for 4 hours and made one pass...ONE PASS IN 4 HOURS. I was hoping to get 5-6 passes to learn how hard I could launch. Also when my car left it shifted into 2nd gear at around 4500 rpm for some reason (glitch?). Firebird Raceway is a joke, even worse then Speed World and I thought that was impossible. As screwed up as as Raceway Park was in NJ at the very least if someone broke, your car would be off that track in under 3 minutes with or without your permission.
On the bright side I hooked up with MONGO as he was able to make a few scary street tire/supercharger passes. I will post a video of my single run later.
E.T. 12.7 107 MPH 1.829 60' on a less then perfect at almost 2000 ft altitude but I am happy and I know there is more in it.
