My mom told me she was getting a new Palm OS for X-Mas. This would leave a spare PalmOne Tungsten E2 up for grabs, naturally, she vouched it belongs in the hands of the family computer geek. I've been looking closer and closer at Scangauge ever since it was recently brought up and tonight I've been looking at other solutions that I could use on the soon-to-be-mine Tungsten E2.

I could go for the route of the Scangauge, in fact that would be the most inexpensive route, but heck...take a look at what these can do - especially the Auterra's Dyno-Software. Of course, not for use for accuracy IMHO, but heck - looks like fun.

Auto Enginuity Palm OS Software (http://www.autoenginuity.com/products-scantoolpalm.html)

Auterra's Palm OS Software (http://store.yahoo.com/auterra/software.html) - Links on the right, "Palm Scan Tool Features" & "Palm Dyno Features"

What do you think of this? I need to browse more and compare personally, but I thought I would throw it out on this board to pick at your brains ;)

I'm liking the Auterra's ability to get dyno readings. Keep us posted with any additional findings.

How do you think this compares to the newer dedicated units that will display 0-60 times, braking G's, HP...

If you are looking for a Scanning device,
you don't need to go any further than your own Notebook.

Just buy your cable and software and it works !!!
I've been using it for almost 6 years now.
All the upgrades are free, you get to read your own codes
WITH DEFINITIONS and you can clear and reset your KAM !!!

http://www.obd-2.com/

You can also record your data stream LIVE and play it back later
without any loss of data.

Alex Peper takes off for the holidays, so you won't be able
to order it until next year...

Download the software and check out all of the info and displays you get.
It is well worth the money.

Thanks. I was looking for an inexpensive data logger to provide info to a tuning professional to provide that little extra in the tune.

I decided I wanted the Auterra software, but it will not work since the buttom port of the Tungsten E is USB. They said their software will not work with a USB port, even if it was converted to serial. Darn!
