When I thought about a hand tool, I saw a beat-up old screwdriver (slotted) from my garage that has a pretty mangled handle and the shaft is ever-so-slightly bent from some previous situation I had to use it as a mini-pry-bar. It's also yellow (the cheapo yellow/translucent alternating handle), so it was no problem thinking about the colour.

The answer to your question was in the very first post in this thread. See quote below. Since most of the people that answered picked something other than "Red Hammer", they are among the 2%ers. The same is said for those of us who picked a Marauder over all the other choices out there. :D I guess that this shows that I am "conflicted" ..... I picked Red Hammer and a Blue Marauder. :rofl:

What I don't get is, if the author of the original thread didn't think red hammer, than why state this 'mind trick' is so spooky and awesome? Whenever I try something like this, and it doesn't work, I think to myself "What a load of BS...next!". I don't usually think "Well, it didn't work for me - maybe it'll work for people on some forum somewhere".

At the risk of sounding like a tool myself, I think I know why, too. All of the basic math questions are the same mathematical function, addition, and all have just 2 operands. So, in quickly working through a bunch of them, you start thinking in 'beats' of 2. When asked another question, your mind looks for an answer with 2 beats, or syllables.
When I thought about the answer quickly, I didn't imagine a picture of a hammer, my mind came up with the first 2 syllable word matching the requirement of the question.
As for red... primary colours, what are they again? RGBY. Or at least RGB. Red is almost always listed first.
