Timing error--wind was behind them pushing--or maybe track they used is slanted downhill-- Their's no way 230some horse pulled a 4,000 pound car to that timeslip without alittle help.

The track they test at is right at sea level I believe, which always makes for faster numbers than the rest of us...

All I know is that at Ennis, in 95 degree heat, with the 4.10's I pulled a 15.07 et. Mind you, both runs sucked arse for traction. It felt like it had a couple tenths still in it. But that's with gears, they had a stock car.

This brings up the subject of "Factory Freaks," engines that produce far more power than they are supposed to.

Modern engines still have a pretty good degree of tolererances, and the factory spec is always an average of many samples. If you get the right combination though, you wind up with more power than you expected.

My own car produced 241 corrected RWHP with only a K&N and a drilled airbox as mods. These mods are only good for about 5hp. This translates to around 280 FWHP or about 9% higher spec than factory. I've heard of stock LT1s producing 260RWHP or about 300FWHP for over 15% over factory.

Translating a 15% overage that to your own 302HP engine, you would be looking at 347FWHP from a "Factory Freak."

I've personally seen that in the Lightning. I've seen the range between 320-360rwhp. Usually they're right at 345rwhp.

Stands to reason same would hold true for the Marauder too... I know that with 2800 miles on mine, it's just starting to "loosen" up now...

no, its just that MM&FF sucks ass. They got a 01v6 3.8 stang to run in the 14's, ummmm no. They have been known to do that crap A LOT. I think its that they dont want to scare any new marauder customers out of buying that car. A more reliable source would be R&T or C&D

Well, I wouldn't put any faith in Car & Driver. They drove the Marauder to a smoking 15.5 :rolleyes: & couldn't get an '02 Mustang GT automatic to run any quicker than a 15.1! I take all their results with a HUGE grain of salt.

Drag test's depend on too many variables to take them for much. Track conditions, driver ability, how broken in the car is, weather... They all play a crucial part that can see a ET go anywhere from .7 sec either side of the average ET for a vehicle.

I am far from the expert here but I think "ET" is Elapsed Time.

ET is the elapsed time from when your front wheels break the timing light beams at the start of the track to when they break the timing beams at the other end of the track.

The other part of a drag race is the RT or reaction time, the time from when the light goes green until your wheels break the first set of beams.

The one with the shortest sum of the two times wins, unless that person redlighted, or overanticipated the green light.
