Hi, Jack from Vegas posting. Have an '03 MM with 40K that is 100% stock. Because of this site, a Trilogy S/C is a future mod. Have talked to Todd TCE about brakes, his responses were lightning fast and informative.

Anyway, the reason I'm bugging you guys is there is a strange occillating vibration at aprox 80 MPH. I had Discount Tires re-balance everything to no avail.

I do have some brake pulsing (the reason I was inquiring about aftermarket rotors as opposed to re-surfacing)

Anyone with similar signs and symptoms?? I'm kinda thinking if rotors are warped it could be causing the problem....even though I've never had a car that did that before.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Welcome to the Site :welcome:

I had a Vibration at high speeds as well and it turned out to be a warped rotor in the rear. I wouldnt feel it in the pedal, Just above 65mph I would get a slight vibration that would drive me nuts!
You can resurface the rotors but sometimes depending where you go, It may not be 100% straight. Cross-drilled and slotted rotors are rather cheap for the Marauder and they make a noticable difference in stopping. Either Way you go with the rotors should be the solution to the vibration. If not,
Your Driveshaft may be the next thing to look at.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the site.

I agree that the driveshaft could be the culprit. Was it removed before?

Try a search for road force balance.
This corrected my wheel vibe.
Welcome to the collective!

BFG tires are famous for a slight vibration that comes and goes above 60 MPH!!:mad2: I had 3 sets of them and they all behaved the same way but I did not "Road Force" balance any of them......Never had to with other brands!!:argue:

My Nitto NT-555's are absolutely smooth at any speed which proved to me that the above must be true??

I'm not saying that tires are your only culprit but I'd sure look into them first!!:bows:

"Road Force" balancing did the trick for me! It was a little more expensive than regular balancing but worth every penny. Had it done when I got realigned to carfixers specs.

Hello, Jack and welcome :welcome1: to the MM.Net. Have you been driving this MM for the entire 40K or did you just pick it up used??

This could also be your bumper cover a-flappin' in the wind. It's happened before.

Thanks all...........We've had the car from day 1. What sucks is that I did replace the tires recently with OEM, noticed the vibes shortly after but Discount has rebalanced.

I'll axe him about the Road Force balance........this better not be like muffler bearings..LOL!!!

I got a GREAT price on the Baer kit (Sorry Todd, there was nearly a $500 diff that I couldn't make up at this time)so I'll be doing front rotors here shortly.

Maybe I'll pull rears and surface.

Driveshaft has never been removed.

Road Force balance is legit .... uses a special Hunter 9100 or 9700 balancing machine. Fortunately, my L-M dealer has one in his service department.

Now, muffler bearings, rebostats, vogelators, and the proper interval for headlight fluid changes are all discussed in different threads. Just don't ask "What's the best Headlight Fluid ? "

What really gets me is when I go to the dealer and they charge me extra for the imorted Canadian air they have to put in the tires. I guess since the car was made in Canada, thats what the tires need.

Yeah, riight
