I've been reading off and on this forum about these cars as I've always had a "thing" for them. I used to be a 3.4 SHO V8 driver for the longest time then got into mustangs. Well I'm a Realtor and I purchased an exploder to show homes with. The time has come that I can afford a Merc and I found one.

The one I've found is really nice. Its a 2003, and the only things it dosn't have is traction control, and a sunroof. It also has brand new Toyo tires all around on the 18's that are polished. The rears are a massive 285's and the fronts are 255's. The car looks pissed ready to pick a fight with any beemer or impalla that shows up. Its also getting full brand new tint, 20% all the way around.

It has 28k and they want $17,800. Its a good friend of mines so he's selling it to me for $300 over what he paid for it at auction. Price looks good I don't think I'm gona haggle with him. Tell me your thoughts.

The To-do list is this...

Bigger tranny cooler, Foglight mod (so the fogs will come on anytime the parking lights are on and will stay on when I turn the brights on) and a cone filter/adaptor off ebay to start. As soon as I get it the wheels/tires are coming off till spring. An exhaust will be a must, I'm thinking some ultra-flo's like my stang, 373's, and a Dyno Tune. I want to keep the gas MPG good because thats the main reason I'm selling my explorer. 12-14 is unacceptable.

Also what size snow tires do you recommend? I'm thinking of 225/70/16's all around on vic wheels.

Thanks guys, This looks like a great group of people. :burnout:

Oh yeah whats the best way to take care of this black, wax product wise. I hate to say it but the stang has the garage spot and this will have to stay outside.

The bast way to take care of the Black is to get a Silver one!

I've had my Black 03 for 3 years and both rear 1/4s and trunk have little white specs.
I wash it when it gets dirty,2-3 times a week, the day after it stops raining etc...

Clay bar 2 times a year,I use Mequires products.Wax twice a mounth in the summer and I still have paint blemishes.

I sat quitley 2 years ago as several mebers here complained and worked with dealers for repaints, happy it wasn't me. Now in the last 6-9 months it has become me,but no dealer help for me.
I can now agree THE BLACK on our cars SUCK!!!
Sure the cars not going to rust away, which is all the dealers/Ford cares about, but the Car show plaques I have now will be my last unless I get a repaint.

Welcome to the site,BTW.

Most of your questions can be answered using the search. Except that fog light question.... thats a good one.
