Alright I'm gona get this ordered today...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-04-Mercury-Marauder-V8-AIR-INTAKE-ADAPTER-FILTER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcateg oryZ33659QQitemZ8023028524QQrd Z1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Cheap and easy. Sure its good for a few HP.
I REALLY want to do a chip to help the car and trans...The alternative auto SCT program looks pretty bad ass. Any comments on it? Does it help gas mpg at all? is it all pro's no cons? Anyone have other tunes they like? I have a local SCT tuner but I don't think he has any MM experience.
My plans consist of this filter kit, tune, and ultraflo mufflers. Then down the road when the warranty is gone I'm gona do some 3.73's, and FULL exhaust.

For a CAI you might want to look at the JLT or K&N (I use the JLT). JLT is a vendor on this site and is somewhat less costly. For the SCT try either Dennis Reinhart or Lidio (both are vendors on this site) for the programmer & tune.

IMHO, I think you should shop around, maybe check out some of the offerings from our vendors. The stuff on e-bay is the same stuff at my local Auto Zone, and it's not high quality. Besides, it doesn't look like it will fit on our MAF, which is 80mm for the OEM, and 90mm for the aftermarket.

I really like Lidio's website/tune info. I may go that route.

Anybody that advertises for our 94-04 Marauders should never be given buisiness. There are a few different intakes we all use. I use the k&n and it cist me @ 250$. It gave me 12 rwhp. With a dyno tune, you could squeeze another 5-6 hp. I love mine. JLT and PHP (Dennis Reinhart) are nice routes as well yielding similar results. I would really investigate and dive into our forums. You will find everything and anything you want to know about our cars. If you cant, well just ask and you will recieve 10 replies within 24 hours. Having a Mustang with those dyno numbers, you should know how to research a good quality product. When it comes to our cars, paying more is well worth the quality.
Hope this was informative.

I have driven across the country to have Lidio tune my car. And I plan on doing it again.
How is that for a suggestion?
Stay away from that crap on eBay. Yes there are good deals for our cars there, but this is not one of them.
Just call Lidio or DR and speak to them directly.

How much more of a feel will you get with 3.73s when a stock MM rear has 3.55s?

Matt, you've been given some very good advice up there ^^^.
The K&N, JLT, and PHP intakes are all good...(I have the PHP from Dennis). Likewise, either Dennis's Cobra exhaust or the Kooks will give you good service, along with Flowmaster or Magnaflow mufflers...(again, I have Dennis's setup). SCT pretty much has the best tuning, with programmes available from Dennis or Lidio.
As far as gears, you can certainly install 3.73s, but as RoyL said, the difference probably will be unnoticeable. Most of us who have changed rear gears have gone with 4.10s, with a few 4.30s and a 4.56 or two sprinkled in. I think someone even has 3.90s, but going up only one step most likely isn't worth the time or expense.
BTW, welcome to the board!

I didnt even see that you wanted 3.73's. First off, what they said is right. You wont feel a difference. I was at Moroso on Wednesday and ran with a member who had just installed his 3.73s. No difference. Actually ran worse. Needless to say he wasnt too happy. I personally have the 4.10s. Awesome mod. Faster off the line and a better responsive car. With the gears and a tune, I took a full .7 seconds off my 1/4 mile time.

I'd only buy an "off-the-shelf" tune from somebody that has really spent the time developing it... that most likely disqualifies anybody that can't spend the time to get their ad accurate... gotta love those '94 Marauders!
I'm sure you could do much worse than a Lidio tune.
FYI, haven drive 5.0 Mustangs back to back with 2.73 & 3.08 gears... really tough to tell the difference, and you're looking at less than that with 3.73s in MM.
Keep readin' & snoopin, lots of folks here want to help, and some will even take your money... but you don't have to worry about getting ripped off if you stick with the sponsors... their goodies are well tested!

Say away from the ebay one. i have a similar setup cause I was too egar to wait for an intake to be shipped(was in a hotel in texas when I bought the car). The intake was cool on the highway with the resonator mod but it sucked at low speeds cause the heatsoak from radiator is able to linger. My K&N is on the way and I can't wait! The only difrence in price of K&N is shipping ;) I looked for like weeks on every site I could think and find and they all were the same price but shipping varied.

I had 3.73's in my stang but they were to steep. When it was mostly stock they were perfect but once I started doubling the power I spent more time shifting/spining through 3rd gear than using power. Changing to 3.55's was a HUGE difference in the way the car drove. I might just be used to that.
I can get 3.73's for super cheap and install them myself so its not much of a budget buster.
From the looks of that JLT kit I can fab something up myself. I just want that adaptor plate.

Consider the weight, and wind resistance factor too? A 3:73 upgrade to a 2V Mustang may very well be the same as a 4:10 upgrade to a 4V Marauder. Trust us, we have done the homework. 4:10s make the car, for overall use and performance.

I would get the chip to start with. You'll need it in the future if you do the gears anyway to get the speedometer cal'd right and the shift points corrected. You may find that the extra power and better shifts from the chip are what your looking for.

MI2QWK4U has 3.73's in his MM. Ask him how he likes them.
I got a multi position chip with a race tune and 4.10's from Lidio last year. With just the gears, and my race tune, I took .96 seconds off my car from my fastest stock time.
stock 15.199 @ 93
chip and gears 14.234 @ 97
This was my first mod...and it did me well. All my other mods came after.
Hope this helps.

update:
Got a tuner in the mail SCT 9100 its in a "lost" state right now hopefully it will find its way to my house, 3.73's from one of my buddy's, then I'm going to install some Dynomax Ultra Flo's. I'm just going to collect things to do. My bumper/bumper is up in may and the ESP starts so after then I'll begin dinking around. 4.10's are just to steep for my style of driving. I spend alot of time 85-90mph. The only thing this car will ever see is a dyno. If it does end up on the strip chances are my wife will be driving it anyway. Which might be 1-2 times a year. I really appricate all your inputs on these things!
