I did a Search but my questions werent answered So I shall start this thread to get some info. I have obtained a entire Intake manifold for my Marauder, Come spring I plan to send it out to be port and polished, I also plan to add a larger throttle body and a bigger MAF sensor.
Now for my Questions..
1st, After the install I know Ill definitly need a Re-tune but will the car be safe to drive 50 miles out to my SCT tuner?
2nd, Will I need to install larger injectors to compensate for the new CFM's of air or can the stock ones handle it?
3rd, I would like to go with a single blade TB set-up. Are there any part numbers that would bolt up and still line up with the throttle linkage on the right side?
4th, Would the Lightning MAF work? Its cheaper then the SCT one and since this Mod is costly enough, I would like to save as much cash as possible.
5th, Does the HorsePower to cost factor make this mod worth wild???

Thanks for any Info

I thought porting the upper and lower intakes were for s/cing and bigger heads.otherwise theres no real big gain in hp.

All the info is out there in threads but...
1. Yes.
2.No, not unless you are using some type of forced induction.
3. 03-04 cobra single TB , inverted , will work.
4. SCT Big air MAF 90 mm , 180 (?) bucks from DR. for reference I fouled my OEM MAF and it was 230 from dealer. cant do much better.
5. No.

1. The Lightning MAF is designed for 39# injectors, your car will run insane rich. If its just a plug in install drive it to the dyno with the old MAF then swap it out when you get there.
2. No the injectors on these cars are good to around 350/375hp
3. No clue, I'm researching this too. It might be MM specific.
4. Should work just fine, I'm not sure if its a direct plug in or if you need to re-wire the plug, you'll definatlly need a tune to run it.
5. Depends on how much you paid. Porting that intake *might* gain you 10-15rwhp if its done good. The #1 thing I've noticed from reading about these cars is the restrictive exhaust.

Bigger TB, Porting, Bigger MAF should yield good results but definatly get workin on that exhaust.

Unless you plan for a blower later, don't bother with the intake porting. Trust me.

If you do it anyway, answers:
1) with intake swap only it's safe to drive, but with MAF change it won't be.
2) stock injectors are ok
3) don't know the numbers but a few guys have gone with the accufab single blade. Requires some additional machining and a different IAC setup I believe.
4) gotta change wiring and add another sensor, MM MAF has integral IAT sensor, LMAF does not.
5) virtually no gain in hp/tq (unless you go with a s/c), lots of $$$

Are you having the manifold cut in half and then hand ported? OR Extrude-honed?
I've heard claimed HP gains of 0 HP up 20HP....:dunno:
I'm sure that good porting has to help HP, but as has been mentioned already, I would first open up the exhaust with a good set of headers and 2-1/2" pipes/mufflers.
Otherwise, your gains will be minimal and the cost of porting is HIGH.

I had my OEM manifold Extrude-honed and the runners and ports came out looking like highly polished aluminum.
The only problem was that the enlarged intake manifold ports were bigger than the ports in the cylinder heads. :(
This left a big 'ridge'* sticking out in the airstream of the port. (*the edge of the head's port where it mated to the intake's port.)
I had to port match the cylinder heads AND the hard plastic OEM gaskets to eliminate this ridge.
I can't vouch for any HP gains from the ported manifold as I was building a new 5.0 DOHC and MANY things were done at the same time.

I thank you all for your comments and info. Its looking like this Intake will be a interesting coffee table center piece!

I have friends of family that have machine shops. I can get the work done rather cheap. Plus after the re-tune and the dyno run, Ill have real world numbers to see what this mod really does. If I plan to throw my hat into the Fastest N/A Marauder race, Every HP helps!
