Had the original pre-production pipes without the resonators installed this morning at a local Muffler and Brake shop. Took them about 1 hr. I paid $60.00 for the pipes and $70.00 for the install. I noticed the difference in sound as soon as they started the car. Sounds a lot more throaty. The more you get on it the more sound you get. At idle it sounds basically the same. Last week I installed the chip and plugs. This car is a whole new machine now, the way it should have been from the factory. I would have paid $60.00 each for these pipes which by the way is the price the shop I went to charges. They are well worth the money. Well I've got to go install my dead pedal now, have a good weekend!

Congrats menace.

I'm not going this route because at 11,500 clicks mine sounds just right for my taste. She is MUCH throatier than she was the first 5K.

Way to go Menace. Glad you like the sound. An aggressive looking car needs to sound aggressive ! Losing those damn resonator tips fixes that problem.

When I test drove my MM I thought the exhaust sound was a bit loud. But after driving for a while the exhaust seems just right. Loud exhaust systems remind me of ricers. IMHO John

TAF, I'll be expecting even greater sound then since I'm only at 1200 miles on mine. I think I read here somewhere this has something to do with the cat. converters as they get more used.
jgc, When I started my car for the first time I thought it sounded wimpy, more like a Grand Marquis than a muscle car. My exhaust is not loud now, it just has more of a rumble, more throaty. I like it a lot.

Menace and Wolfe: You guys are making me jealous! The news tips and the Stallion converter go on Wednesday morning (provided my damn work schedule doesn't interfere for a second time!!!!!).

I'll report back then.

I am back to square one.... Had a hit on my back bumper that bent the left exhaust tip down a inch.. The body shop had to replace the muffler also...I'll take a while for the sound to even out?????? At first I thought they put the wrong muffler on.....$600. job went to $950. Happy the other insurance paid for it.....

It is the resonator that adjusts in sound. It actually works like a glasspack, and the "stuffing" insulation gets blown out of the airstream. If they use the same resonator, it should be ok. You should have taken it to a custom exhaust shop, and had a full cat back exhaust done, using your stock tips, and putting new mufflerrs on, x pipe, mandrel bend for 950!!

eeek!

Ummm...It's your thread, and it's hanging where you posted it. I don't think any one other than you really noticed the parent forum. No signs of it being moved by a moderator, so...
