I was in the Ford dealer showroom Friday and spied the new 2006 Mustang brochure. Upon flipping the pages I ran onto something I thought looked rather interesting. . .Pics of Marauder Mag Wheels as an option but with a Mustang center cap. Hmmmm. . .they must have a large supply leftover.
Take a look. . .what do you think? Am I seeing things?

:shake: The final kick in the 'nads to the Marauder owner base. Bet Ford is just dying to see the last Marauder run out of warranty so they can then completely forget we ever existed.

On the flip side, now we can begin calling the Mustang a "parts bin" car.

I have been paying attention to the Mustang forum a lot lately for obvious reasons, I have not heard of any Mustangs getting the Marauder rim yet. It is my understanding that a future special edition Mustang release will come on the Marauder rims. Trust me, none of the Mustang crowd want to be caught dead with "those Grand Marquis GT" rims. Thats why I had to spank them over the head with my 11 second Grand Marquis GT, I mean Marauder. I did come down hard on them on dissing the Marauder, they cant argue with the fact that there are still only a handfull of 05-06 Mustangs that could even come close to touching my Marauder. Oh...anyway...dont think you will see much of our rims on the Mustang unless they do the special edition.

I think they wouldnt look to bad on anew stang. Gonna order the GF new stang Gt this next week and she has even said she wouldnt mind having the same rims as my MM.

I noticed that last night reading through my 06 FMS book. In fact the Back spacing is identical too.

What size tires will they use with these rims on the Mustang?

As Mac pointed out, the wheels are in the current catalog. They're called Marauder wheels, but you'll have to look in the section for "Truck Wheels".
Ugh

From what I understand, the Marauder wheels are being offered (along with a few other styles) as an over-the counter Ford Accessory wheel. They are not going to be installed as a production-line part. The new vehicle showroom brochure will show them near the back, along with other genuine Ford Accessory parts you can buy.

The 06 FRPP parts catalogue shows them, as does the 06 Ford Accessories catalogue. There are 2 optional 18" wheels for the 06 Mustangs, but neither of them are the Marauder wheels.

All I can tell you Ed is that I was told by someone on the inside at Ford involved in Mustang offerings, that those rims would be on a limited or special edition Mustang, I just cant elaborate as to the name and when.

What size tires will they use with these rims on the Mustang? '05-'06 Mustang owners who are interested in this "Marauder wheel" option will have the same choices we have now, as well as the same decisions to make.

The MM wheel is 18X8, which mounts any 18" tire from 235 through 255 wide. Anything wider (265 and up) is not considered safe on an 8" wide wheel. The aspect ratio is "owner's choice", for the right profile, or, "look".

As I understand it, the rear wheel wells on the '05-'06 Mustang are more generous than the Marauder, and can handle up to a 315 wide tire on the appropriate wheel. This may be affected by differences between IRS and "live axle" applications. However, it's also my understanding that the OEM tire for the '05-'06 Mustang is a Pirelli P-Zero, so, things are not totally FUBAR...Yet.

Your info is right on Mac. All of the Mustangs coming from the factory on any of the optional 18 in rims have 235/50/ZR18s on them. One of the aftermarked optional rim combos I have seen on the 05/06 Mustangs run a 18X9 rim up front, and a 18X10 rim on the back with the 315 sized tire. Personally, I like the factory 18 in rims that came on my car, so I will be immediately buying 2 more factory rims and having them widened the 2 in to bring them up to 18X10. There is plenty of room for the 315s in the rear wheelwells. I will check and see if the Pirellis come stock on the 18 in rims.

Hey, that's certainly possible too !! From the parts side up here, I haven't seen anything to that effect yet. :)
